Tom Hardy To Play Al Capone In New Movie ‘Fonzo’ From Josh Trank

There are a group of people who like to pretend that he wasn't fired from Star Wars. But no we are just being mean by pointing out the truth. No I don't have a personal Vendetta against Trank. I don't even know him so that is impossible.

Baby, anyone with sense knows his ass got fired. It went so bad, they changed the Han Solo movie from 2020 to 2018 so they could rework the film he was suppose to be working on. He couldn't even show up at Celebration. :funny:

This whole situation is a loud of crap, but I am not surprised. Horrible human beings seem to have staying power in Hollywood.

I just can't stand people on here and my twitter feed treating him like he is some sort of fragile victim. Who victimized him? He's not a victim. He made one good movie and I'm supposed to fall at his feet?

I do find it a bit ridiculous that people took the production troubles surrounding 'Fantastic Four' and Josh Trank so personally. I get that it's an IP that people on here are close to, so it's unfortunate that the film didn't live up to expectations and that Trank lost his cool on the production.
I think fans took it personal because it seems like Fox was clearly pushing this forth just so they can hold on to the F4 film rights. Otherwise, it would've gone back to Marvel/Disney, and we would've had a legit F4 film, or at least be able to use Doom and Galactus. But Fox screwed up those hypothetical plans, and Trank seems to be the scapegoat of it all.

I don't think the guys at Marvel/Disney are the only ones who can make a proper Fantastic Four movie. Unfortunately, though, everything that could go wrong went wrong with the latest reboot and a lot of bad decisions were made on that one.

It sucks. But sometimes s**t happens.

For the record, I hope everyone knows that when I post something that sounds like a defense of Trank, it's less on his behalf and more just because the pile-on of hate that fanboys are so fond of irritates me. I feel no real allegiance toward him, and I'm sure there are directors out there far more deserving of a second chance, but I don't think I'm overestimating when I say that 9 out of 10 Trank haters feel that way less for his own behavior and more for providing a CBM that wasn't up to their standards. And more than that, I'm sure a great deal of them made up their minds about both him and the film when that initial casting was released.

I don't believe in directors jail solely for making a bad comic book movie. That's silly.

I think Dawn of Justice is a terrible movie and yet I don't dislike Zack Snyder or believe that his career should be over. I wish he wouldn't direct anymore DC superhero movies though.

No one forced him to act like an *******, who lied constantly.

We definitely don't agree on that one sweetie. :funny:

While I like the Fantastic Four, that has little to do with my problems with Trank. It has almost exclusively to do with his attitude throughout the whole saga. He acted like an immature brat , who then started playing the classic Hollywood rehabilitation victim. He treated others like trash while lying constantly, then he threw the studio under the bus after lying about how everything was fine forever, and he got away with it because he has connections. Not because he is talented, but simply because he was connected.

And that in a nut shell is my problem. I'm not saying that Trank doesn't deserve a second chance, I'm saying give people other than white males a first chance for ****s sake. And allow directors of color and female directors to be difficult and continue to get jobs.

No this isn't a big project but it is a project that I think that a director of color or a woman would not be able to get off the ground so easily if they behaved in the exact same way Trank did. People can call it petty If they want to but I don't like the unfairness of it all and I have a right to be annoyed and complain about it.

This is so true. It's like, how the hell does McG keep getting work when he's made one critical and commercial bomb after another and was, at one point, handed the keys to the Superman franchise and then threw a fit and jumped ship because he didn't want to get on an airplane or something.

On the other hand, after Lynne Ramsay left the production of Jane Got Her Gun (a movie ultimately no one saw or cared about anyway) her reputation was ruined and its taken her years to get another project going.

On the plus side, at least no one ever let Pitof near a director's chair again after Catwoman.

I can't see how Lynne Ramsay's reputation was ruined, considering that she has a movie coming next year.

Some directors just need more to find new projects. Damn, Joe Cornish hasn't directed a movie since Attack the Block.

Why does gender and race have to come up with every topic these days? As soon as the directors shortlist for Deadpool 2 was up, there was already someone complaining about all three of them being white men.

Josh Trank wrote Fonzo, and was able to find financing and a star for the project. Which is why he's directing a new movie. It's as simple as t

Trank NOT making any new movies doesn't pave the way for others to do so.

Wait, so you think Zack's career should be over because he directed a couple of terrible CBMs?

Which, by the way, not everyone found terrible.

But hey, didn't you know? Whoever pisses of fans on the Internet should go to hell!

The only Zack Snyder film I liked (and even it wasn't a glowing endorsement) was Man of Steel. Dawn of the Dead was probably the best of his rest. I thought 300, Watchmen, Sucker Punch, BvS, and Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole were all atrocious.

Yeah, I liked Man of Steel and Batman V Superman (which I really like in its Ultimate Cut, except for the Justcie League cameos and the fight agaist Doomsday, which however picks up steam with the Nuclear bomb scene from The Dark Knight Returns and once it turns into the Death of Superman).

Dawn of the Dead and 300 were kinda fun, but both pretty average. The rest was just bad.

Yup.

We live in a place where Josh Trank can get a second chance for his bad behavior on FF. I don't give a **** about him making a bad FF movie so much as his personhood and how that's rewarded. Fas as I'm concerned right now, he doesn't deserve this movie as his follow up. Give it to someone more deserving.

Bull crap.

FF didn't wipe out his making Chronicle. You guys are acting like he's some spoiled brat who keeps being given everything. He paid his dues with Chronicle and got FF and flamed out(pun intended).

The idea that being a jerk on one movie under tremendous stress equals undeserving is crazy. I doubt Jordan would have signed on to FF if Trank had been a jerk to him on Chronicle.

I hope he apologized to Mara and everyone else for his behavior but to act like he is somehow being rewarded for his bad behavior is wrong

Not for the big screen anyway.

Heh, yeah but a TV movie and a short film aren't much. I remember at one point that f***er was supposed to direct an Akira movie.

Well I for one hope this movie is good. I've been wanting to see Hardy in this role for some time.

Chronicle ain't that good to wipe out the disaster he became in a very short while. He messed up FF and then messed up Lucasfilms plans. He then attacked Sony, actors and the public like a whiny little *****.

This relationship started based on disagreements. :funny:
Just like Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy. :atp:

Wait, so you think Zack's career should be over because he directed a couple of terrible CBMs?
Yeah, because that was obviously serious. :yay:

Though if that is the only way to keep him from ruining good source material, it might be necessary. For the greater good.

I'm willing to give directors second chances, but I agree with Kevin Smith that in Hollywood in fail upwards. And inconsistent.

There are some directors like the dude who made 'Shoot 'Em Up' who has struggled making another movie since then.

Then Josh Trank's next film is an Al Capone bio-pic with Tom Hardy, and that's considered his 'smaller film'. Despite having a bigger failure than a movie like 'Shoot Em Up', plus a public meltdown and turmoil with some of Hollywood's biggest producers.
