Tom Hardy To Play Al Capone In New Movie ‘Fonzo’ From Josh Trank

Just like Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy. :atp:

Yeah, because that was obviously serious. :yay:

Though if that is the only way to keep him from ruining good source material, it might be necessary. For the greater good.

:ozack is just too smart for you

The directors jail thing is silly. Neil Marshall has been relegated to directing TV shows since his previous few movies didn't do so great. Marshall is way too talented to be not given an opportunity to make more movies.

Chronicle ain't that good to wipe out the disaster he became in a very short while. He messed up FF and then messed up Lucasfilms plans. He then attacked Sony, actors and the public like a whiny little *****.

What movie was everyone saying MMPR trailer was ripping off?

Oh right Breakfast Club and Chronicle.

Thanks for making my point. The movie had an impact on teen superhero visual language.

Dude is an a-hole personality( many artist in different fields are) but that's not enough of a reason to put him out to pasture.

That dude who directed John Carter got sent back to animation cause he oversaw a huge financial failure.

Who is everyone exactly?

Chronicle, the movie that was found footage, has had exactly zero on the "teen superhero visual language", whatever that means. How many teen superhero movies have you seen recently exactly? Because the only one coming to mind right now are Spider-Man Homecoming (not out yet), Kick-Ass (came out first), and Kingsman (spy but sort of the same idea). So what are all these movies Chronicle influenced in the teen superhero genre again?

If you mean Chronicle looked like generic young adult flicks, then yeah it does. But that has been around quite a while now, before Chronicle, and that isn't a compliment.

Trank doesn't have the talent of truly talented *******s.

Stop being disingenuous. Look at any video or twitter reaction after that trailer dropped.

The same way Breakfast Club/John Hughes movie doesn't mean it literally copies a John Hughes movie, it's shorthand for a type of feeling. Chronicle was just Akira but it made it's self distinct.

I was thinking MMPR, Project Almanac, Time Lapse.

Sorry. Superhero teen is just easier to collapse under.

He's making three movies while you and I are on a message board so I guess he's got something

He still needs to direct his Ayn Rand movie. The glorious train wreck of that thing cannot be taken from me

Disingenuous? You think I spent time looking up a ton on that horrible looking Power Rangers movie? Because I spent like four hours paying attention to it once the trailer came out. I saw a lot of, "it looks like Fantastic Four", it looks like typical generic young adult, and it looks like crap in general. That is what I got.

Project Alamanac and Time Lapse.

Ah, classic deflection, avoiding the point because you don't have an argument.

By the way, Uwe Boll had a nice, long career in films. Guess he had something too. :hehe:

That's not what you're being disingenuous. Even if you don't care. The majority of people's opinions were.... No. Not literally everyone but the vast majority.

Project Alamanac and Time Lapse.

Sorry the movie's four years old. Let's give it a decade and see what more is comes out.

Classic lame comparison to deflect from making up something I never said.

I never brought up Trank's talent. YOU DID.

I said he made a good movie than that's he's getting a second chance. Not cause he's just a white male. Chronicle had an impact on the sci-fi genre.

Lot's of artist make good music or one-hits. That's not the same as saying they are equals to great talents like Madonna or BB King or even that they are great musicians.

I don't know what Trank's talent is.

You couldn't have read the vast majority's opinion. Saying you know it, is disingenuous.

Same with claiming Chronicle was this big influential film. Then you go with, "but its only been 4 years". Well The Dark Knight, which was actually influential, had other big Hollywood studios copying it, with their big films in that time frame. Skyfall, Into Darkness, The Amazing Spider-Man.

What impact? You keep saying it has made an impact, but give two examples. One crappy found footage movie. The other, I haven't seen so I can't say, but does not have Chronicle under its list of influences on wiki:

For the love of God get Neil Marshall to direct this movie. The man is way too talented to be just directing GOT. Nothing wrong with that gig, but he deserves to be directing every movie he wants to make.

Neil Marshall would Make Star Wars Great Again.

I don't even think Doomsday and Centurion were bad movies. Doomsday was a fun b movie mashup of Mad Max, Escape from New York and 28 Days Later. Centurion got mixed reviews but it wasn't really hated. At worst people called it a little middle of the road.

Yeah Doomsday is a bad movie in an entertaining way, but I stand by how much I love Centurion.

Yeah, I loved Centurion as well. It's one of my favorites. Loved all the characters and the battle sequences were beautifully brutal.

Matt Dillon, Linda Cardellini, Kyle MacLachlan, Katherine Narducci Join Al Capone Biopic ‘Fonzo’

The Josh Trank written and directed Al Capone biopic, Fonzo, is boosting its cast with the addition of Matt Dillon (Crash, Wayward Pines), Linda Cardellini (Bloodline, Daddy’s Home), Kyle MacLachlan (Twin Peaks, Desperate Housewives), and Katherine Narducci (The Sopranos, HBO’s Wizard Of Lies) joining previously announced Tom Hardy as the title character.

Cardellini will play Capone’s long-suffering wife Mae; Dillon is his closest friend Johnny; MacLachlan plays his doctor Karlock; Narducci plays Rosie, one of his sisters.

Bron Studios and Creative Wealth Media are backing the pic, which will begin shooting next month in New Orleans. Bron’s Aaron L. Gilbert is producing alongside Russell Ackerman and John Schoenfelder from Addictive Pictures, and Lawrence Bender for A Band Apart. Jason Cloth of Creative Wealth will serve as exec producer.

Hardy could make a good Capone, but I’m leery of Trank doing this and of the premise.
