Tom Hiddleston is Loki

was thinking the other day, with all the talk and debates about Chris's size..
just wondering, if Tom is hitting the gym at all

Loki certainly doesn't need to be huge (infact skinniest kinda adds to his character) but, Tom seems like a pretty small, guy

I am just thinking of how any scenes between him will look

^ That's a good question, anyone have recent pictures of Hiddleston?

In an interview with Hiddelston back in June, he said after putting on some bulk to audition for Thor, he was embarking on a weight loss program to play Loki, as he thought the character should have a "lean, hungry look".

So he should look like a thin serial killer almost.

should be interesting to see how they will be doing loki.

I have a good feeling that Loki will be perfectly portrayed... Considering Brannaghs love of shakespeare, and how shakespearian Loki is as a character (very Iago, who Brannagh even played in the film version of othello) I think Brannagh is really going to capture the tragic and romantic aspects of the Thor mythos

Yea if anything, I'm looking forward to seeing Loki as much, if not MORE than Thor.

But I have a thing for villains :D

Also Hiddleston looks great... I love discovering a new actor for the first time... It's really satisfying

I wonder if they'll have Hiddleston dye his hair or if movie-Loki will just be blonde.

I've always thought the same about Loki. He is VERY Iago. He kind of plots and schemes and uses others to carry out his deeds while he stays safely out of harms way. Not because he's a coward, but he's working smarter, not harder!

In that earlier interview, Hiddleston said he saw Loki as being a lot like Edmund from King Lear.

I think they will probably opt to darken it to brown if not black, not only to stay truer to the comic book but also to make him more visually distinct from 'goldilocks' :cwink:.

I have to agree with him, even though both characters are master manipulators. Take their background into consideration; Edmund is stigmatized because of his birth whilst Iago is a noble with a particularly vengeful streak. Loki is an outcast because he is an orphaned Jotunn raised among Asgardians, his lineage is primarily what puts him at a disadvantage. Not to mention he is also estranged from his giant kin. It seems like he resents all the attention heaped upon Thor, so jealousy is his main motive. Who then is more like unrepentant Iago? Malekith. It seems like Malekith was raised as a member of dark elven nobility and held a position of leadership among his own people until he ran afoul of Odin. His subsequent banishment provided him with all the free time he needed to nurse a very big grudge...

EDMUND: Why bastard? wherefore base?
When my dimensions are as well compact,
My mind as generous, and my shape as true,
As honest madam's issue?

I don't think Loki's as open about his motives though... he keeps all his cards very close to his chest (cards or the asgardian equivalent anyway... rune stones?)

i also love that, not only the director, but hiddleston himself looks like he really wants to explore the character

that's a good sign for me, i've always been more excited to see loki then thor, and i hope they use him more (gary shandling in iron man 2 turns out to be loki after all?) little things like that.

I'd love to see Loki in the other Marvel movies too. My idea was that he shows up in some scenes with Justin Hammer. At first he is presented as an associate, merely one of Hammer's employees, but then in one scene perhaps near the end we get a scene that suggests Hammer is afraid of Loki, and though he lets the world think otherwise it's actually him calling the shots. He's never actually referred to as Loki, he'd operate under an alias, but us fanboys would know.

I don't know if this is possible or not. Loki was cast when Iron Man 2 was still shooting, so it's possible they sneaked him onset for some filming. But I won't get my hopes up.

Apparently they did some reshoots recently for IM didn't they?

I really like that idea Keyzer. But usually if one of us thinks of something, even if it's awesome, that means it won't happen :D

I always wondered why Loki had black hair to begin with. It makes him look more evil with blond hair as he's like this spoiled prince.

They probably did it in the comics to visually emphasize the fact that Loki's not a blood-relative of Thor and Odin. Makes him more of an outsider if he has uncommon black hair.

Granted, I don't know how effective that is given Balder and Sif's black hair...

I just think it's a nice contrast between the two "brothers". Thor with his goldy locks. And Loki with his jet black bowl head. Maybe not too subtle, but...heh.

In Norse Mythology all of them, like Norses, have blond or red hair from Thor to Balder to Loki. Balder has a lighter hair color than the others. Loki wouldn't be that different, given his parents were Norse Giants and have icy white hair.

Even with all of these other fantastic actors coming on board I have a gut feeling that Hiddleston is going to steal the show in a big way
