For me still I am not fully for either. But again if it was asa or tom. I rather have tom right now. Over asa due to unknown factors with asa.

I like both options a great deal, but I'm thinking that Asa will ultimately be the one to get the role. It doesn't matter much to me either way, because I think either one would really kill it in the role.

The only thing Asa has over Tom is his age being slightly better. But imo Tom does look young enough just enough for a high school trilogy

Please let it be Tom...

They are both the same age and again if age is such a factor who cares. Really all they need to be able to pull off teen peter for like next 4 yrs. Before the character ages to 20 and older.

I agree, who cares but Tom turns 19 in a couple weeks and Asa just turned 18 last month. So, a slight difference.

They both have young fresh face is what I am getting at. And like I brought up. With how mcu time goes. We will likely only see a 15 to 19 yr old peter cover over the course of phase 3. Then phase 4 and 5 go from 20 to 30. Then at that point ie phase 4 who cares how old person is. That is a point I brought up during the dylan wave. So what if he was 23 now. As long as he if he was picked didn't age to much by end of phase 3. Could pull teen yrs off. Then who cares he would then be late 20s playing early 20s.

Still if it's asa or tom they likely would both only be playing the role to they are likely 30 to 33 yrs old give or take. Then they would likely leave the role to move on to other projects. Then at this point the character would be st that prime late 20s/early 30s comics age frame. And then next replacement would be anyone likely from 23 to 30ish. To play the likely locked in comics ambiguous age and so forth.

^ I'm so tired of people bringing this topic out over and over again. annoying enough as it is, they almost ALWAYS exaggerate when they do.

Not wasting my time explaining myself yet again. if you don't like what I have to say, Put me on ignore. good day, sir.
If you want a certain actor, then you want him, period. You can't just stop wanting him just because another actor is hyped here at SHH.
Now, who is your favorite for the role - Holland or Buttermilk?

Asa isn't charismatic enough to carry such a big character and franchise on his back. His stiff performances was one of the things that drowned Ender's Game down and made it fail, he can't hold a franchise let alone a whole universe on his own.

Ya asa seems the more stiff reverse British type. Where I don't feel that with tom. He has more energy and pep out of him. Probably cause of his dance and gymnastic background. On top of coming from a comedian father. I just feel he would be a more lively peter and could pull off the way Kevin talked about how they want pete and spidey to be.

Tom Holland kinda exudes more warmth were as Asa seems to have a coldness and distance to him. Look wise, Asa kinda reminds me of Thomas Sangster but without the warmth that that actor exudes.

Tom Holland kinda has more of the likable goofy look about him and has that kinda Tom Sawyer , boy next door look about him. There's much more of a comfort level to him where as with Asa I don't really get that sense . Both have different energies.

Here is a question I got. Any one got pics of both tom and asa'a fathers. Cause I wanted to see what they look like. It could give us a better judge on what tom and asa could look like within the next 10+ years.

I know Dylan won't get it, however let me tell you something, It doesn't matter how many movies Asa has under his belt, thing is, he didn't draw in audience, he isn't charismatic and doesn't really have a fanbase, in other words, people don't line up to see his movies. It's the total opposite with Dylan: his projects are much more "under the radar" yet he has >3M followers on twitter, was the 4th most talked about actor on tumblr in 2014 and has managed to make a low budget YA movie into one of the most popular series right now; and let me tell you...it was not bc of its 'wonderful' directing or script but because he has star power.

Shanio thanks for the pics. So it looks all in asa family are the tall lean type. Where tom side may be shorter. But got the more stockier build I like to see peter get in time.

No problem

Ultimately it depends on who's best for the role as written for a given script. Maguire and Garfield certainly didn't have fanbases and weren't very popular when they both were cast in the parts. Neither of them brought people to the theaters prior to casting, as was the case with many of the MCU actors.

Most of the actors in those roles in general don't have huge fanbases supporting their castings, so fan support isn't always reliable test of who should get a part. It helps to the extent that you have fans who have goodwill toward the choice, but other than that, the studios are making a business decision and a long term investment. Fan approval can be fickle and fleeting so they can't rely on which actor is popular with the fans at the given moment . They have to go with the guy who they feel can bring in the money for the long term. In this case Marvel is looking at several years.

Then again, there are several actors who could play a given par or would be better for a given part ,but it can only go to one , and who that one should be is entirely subjective and based on the filmmakers.

What? you do realize that Ender'a Game stirred a HUGE controversy before it even came out, right? 14 year-old Asa's performance had NOTHING to do with it.

Asa is one of the BEST young actors of this generation. if he's being heavily considered, then Marvel must see potential in him.

For me I see why they would look at him. But for me ideally I don't feel asa would be the best fit for the role. But we will see once we get the official word from marvel/sony. Hopefully within this coming week.

Holland is my favorite for the role. he's just a better fit than Asa. I won't fret if Asa is cast though, considering that he's my second favorite. but I will be disappointed though.

The controversy was about the author's homophobia and I doubt it had any kind of effect on it's box office performances, so...

None of Marvel's films have depended on star power and I don't know why you think they'd start now.
