Smallville Tom Welling As Superman Manips

Bump for an old thread. AI is making some amazing Superman manips now and for some reason lately (maybe because I've subscribed to the Smallville podcast and follow it on social media) I keep seeing great Tom Welling ones on Instagram. Makes me hanker again for the days when we thought there was a slim chance he might make the transition to a Superman movie after Smallville.

Ole Tom Welling looking more like Kingdom Come Superman these days. It's really a shame he never went to the big screen as Supes. I know he had his detractors back in the day(and still has them) but a Smallville/Superman movie back in the 2000s would have been huge. I know he had talks with Brett Ratner for playing him on the big screen, but he said it would conflict with Smallville's film scheduling. Just a missed oppurtunity tbh.

According to what I've read over the years, Tom's main objection to playing Superman (at least on "Smallville"), is that he felt doing so would signal the end of Clark's growth. You have to remember, that when Al Gough & Miles Millar first approached him, he turned down the show twice, fearing it would be a Superboy rehash. It took quite some time for them to convince him otherwise, and if he had refused again, Jensen Ackles would've gotten the role...which would have made things very different.
