Just checked out the writer's imdb and his stuff is pretty poor. I guess it may be best for Daisy to avoid this after all.

The writers of the new Spiderman film don't have the best record too. You never know. I wonder who the director will be.

Yh, she should stay away so better talent like Vikander get's the role for one of rare franchises in hollywood with strong female lead. You happy, me happy. The world happy.
:woot:

Daisy Ridley would be a great pick. But there are other good choices, Alicia Vikander would also be a good fit. I saw someone suggest Gemma Arterton on youtube, and she looks the part at least.

This reminds me of when Maisie Williams from Game of Thrones was connected to the Last of Us movie.

It sounds good for a minute then nothing happens and the actor moves on or loses interest.

Alicia Vikander is definitely my top pick at the moment

I started to wonder why we did not have a web series in the vein of Street Fighter Assassin's Fist instead?

Probably because there's still big screen hopes for this one. Street Fighter was pretty much written off as a lost cause when they decided to do that web series.

:awesome:

I doubt that two action roles (and no, while they do have some surface similarities, Rey and Lara Croft are not the same character) would automatically "typecast" Daisy (anymore than it did Harrison Ford for example).

But, to throw another possibility into the ring, Felicity Jones.

That would be interesting. Such a fan of hers after Cinderella.

She was also great in War & Peace and, despite the movie being a flop, Pride + Prejudice + Zombies. Even the critics who didn't like it had to mention how good she was. I dunno, I just think she's a natural star who's destined to lead a franchise at some point. This one fits her rather well, imo.

Daisy Ridley Confirms Talks of Playing Lara Croft in 'Tomb Raider' Reboot http://thr.cm/dABA8l

Daisy Ridley has confirmed that she has been in talks to star in the much-hyped Tomb Raider reboot.

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter at the Empire Awards, held in London on Sunday, the Star Wars: The Force Awakens actress – who picked up the best female newcomer award - said there “have been conversations” about her picking up the Lara Croft reins left by Angelina Jolie, but she has not been offered the role.

“I’m waiting for someone to say ‘I want you, let’s do it',” she said, adding that there wasn’t a script for the film yet.

Although currently filming the 8th episode of Star Wars, Ridley said she would have time to take the additional role given the opportunity. “Absolutely, I’m trying to fill up my calendar,” she said.
Ridley’s co-star John Boyega – winner of Empire’s best male newcomer award – admitted that he himself had eyed Ridley for the Lara Croft role.
“I played Tomb Raider the game, it’s a new take and I think the movies are going to be based on that version,” he told THR. “But I texted Daisy [and] was like, ‘this is you!’ and ‘you need to get on that because you could be Lara Croft.’ She should be."
Alongside Boyega and Ridley’s awards, The Force Awakens picked up three other honors Sunday evening, including best director for J.J. Abrams.

Eh, signing onto a big established property can be damning. Just ask Ryan Reynolds with Green Lantern. Then again, it could work out (seemingly) fantastically like Margot Robbie for Suicide Squad. It rests a lot on the director.

Well, she does wanna do it, so hey.

If she wants to do it, what are ya gonna do? Her relationship with Boyega is pretty adorable.

I want her to play it, but the director and screen writer ..are iffy.......

A great star with crappy writing and directing could kill my hype for Daisy. :(

She doesn't really have any tenure here. Even if the crew sucks, turning it down would be kind of a bad move, Star Wars or not.

I think she probably should turn it down but you are correct that people who think Daisy has an easy path to the A-list because she is in Star Wars have obviously never looked at the history of Star Wars actors careers. She should do a drama and then another franchise picture.

And who was the one SW actor who became an A-lister again post-SW? And what other iconic role did he play?

And yeah/ her and Boyega are great when they play off of each other (and her nickname fro him is apparently "peanut," which is cute).

That would mean this would have to find a director on par with Steven Spielberg. We'll see.

Not really, jus a good movie (that does well at the box office) and a good performance.
