If they dont know who she is, I feel bad for them. Since last year she is really on the roll, both as supporting or lead. Starring in really good movies. From Ex-Machina to Danish Girl and now Bourne.

Ex machina and Danish girl weren't huge though. She's no household name. Most people have no idea who she is

However, I am okay that Daisy didn't get the role. She's better off anyway besides she'll be way more identified as Rey since Star Wars is a much bigger franchise than Tomb Raider. Sorry Lara...

That's a valid point actually. Her star is on the rise but she could easily walk down the street quite comfortably without anyone bothering her.

That was the original teenage Lara. It's been years since I played those games but one of them had a kind of flashback opening.

I have no problem with Vikander. I would have been fine with Ridley too.

The casting I was hoping for! Alicia has been excellent in everything I have seen her in and is ideal for the role IMO.

I like the casting. Vikander is a great actress, and she deserves a franchise role at this point in her career. Ridley already has star wars and should not want to be type cast, besides she's doing more dramatic roles outside if SW, which I think is the way to go.

Wonderful casting! I'm so glad they didn't go with Ridley. She's great but a predictable choice.

Now who will play Sam? I would love to see Ellen Wong play her but they might be looking for a Japanese actress. Reiki kukichi might be cool and would be about the right age to star alongside Vikander

Yup I like it when Hollywood spreads the love with regards to actors and franchises. We don't want just a few popular actors hogging major roles in all the potential franchises.

I am happy WB went with talent instead of popularity in this situation.

I haven't seen anything with her in it (I really wanna se Ex Machina though) so I can't really comment on that, but I am glad to see that the movie is moving forward. The 2013 game has a really good story so it's possible that the movie can turn out pretty nicely.

Never heard of her. Hope the movie is good. Tomb Raider was/is one of my favorite all time video game franchises, been playing them from the beginning. The two Tomb Raider movies, as bad and silly as they are, are still a guilty pleasure of mine.

I hope this Vikander girl does good.

She's great in everything she's been in. Some of the movies haven't always necessarily been the best (like the Man from UNCLE), but she's always good in her scenes.

And she looks the part too.
