Iron Man Tons of positive early screening Iron Man reviews

say what? It was a hell of lot better than Marvel's movies last year (Spiderman 3, FF2). By the way, I liked those two movies, Im not hating, just trying to make a point.

Agreed,Transformers is suppose to be about being scifi/action,and the movie had those elements. I'd say the only bad things about Transformers was the lack of screentime/dialog on the part of the Transformers sides. I agree that Spiderman 3 was pretty bad,but I thought FF2 was better than FF1 because of the scale of the movie and because of the addition of Silver Surfer and Galactus. Oh,and Dr.Doom with a better suit using SS's board among other stuff as well that makes a movie good.

So,doe's anyone have a prediction for what Iron Man will end up with percentage wise when it comes to movie critics who have an account at Rotten Tomatoes.com?? I think at best it will stop at around the low 40%'s. The users rating for Iron Man will be much higher though.

I like what those reviews are saying. I can't believe IM will get a 40% rating at RT. But I never understood those critics anyway...

A lot of movies have those elements and also a good story, which Transformers was lightyears, universes, dimensions away from.

It delivered what I was expecting from a live-action adaption of that franchise. And I say that as a long-time TF fan.

Not being a long-time TF fan, I saw it as a moviegoer, and it was terrible. It constantly confuses comic relief with doing a wink-wink nudge-nudge joke or some obvious double meaning innuendo every thirty seconds, especially through the first two acts. The action scenes aren´t even that well staged, because of the robots´clunky visual you can barely tell what´s going on and the actions are all generic fight stuff without any actual creativity. The story doesn´t really go anywhere, there is supposed to be a motto about sacrifice to achieve victory, but the leading character doesn´t make any real sacrifice, in the end he has all he wanted and more, the hot chick, a cool car, and some badass new friends. Michael Bay´s direction is all about making things look "golden hour" all the time, there isn´t a single pan, angle or transition that shows any actual visual narrative skills. He tries to make things look epic when the story never gives you that feeling. The FX are great, Shia is a funny guy and Megan is uber-hot, but other than that, it´s a piece of s***.

Your points are valid, but I still enjoy the movie and own the dvd. And I've been a TF fan since '86.

You nailed it on that one. I completely agree, the only thing I would add is that the humour is what made it watchable for me(but only with an audience that would laugh along with the movie).

I think it could do 85% fresh on RT, and maybe mid-70's on Metacritic. Maybe around an 8.0 on IMDB if the reviews keep coming in like they have been.

Thanks Nomis, Kedrell, and it´s okay Raiden, to each their own.

Transformers did have a good story. It was simple, but good. But then again, it's Transformers, it shouldn't have a complicated plot anyway.

It definately wasn't without its flaws. One of the major factors that made me still like in the end was that I felt that it still captured the essence of that franchise, despite the deviations it took.

But I do agree with some of your points. I also had a hard time making out what was going on in the climax during my first viewing. As for the comedy, some of the jokes I found funny, others just stupid. I did think the "no sacrifice, no victory" theme had some resolution in the end though. With the Autobots allowing the Allspark to be destroyed in order to stop Megatron, no longer being able to revive Cybertron as a result.

High 70's. or early 80's. I think they'll like it, looks like it'll be a fun and not TOO serious action comicbook movie. Hopefully Marvel hits a home run *crosses fingers*

I hope so too,but then again movie critics are way too picky these days, picky to the point that I think it's irritating IMO. It's a shame lots of people don't give non mainstream comic book movie adaptions a chance, there's always a preconceived before they go through viewing it. I hate how they think as if what they like movie wise doesn't stink in the mind of others at all.

You took the words right out of my mouth there buddy!

I never thought I'd see the day when a movie like TRANSFORMERS would be considered "Garbage". Flawed, maybe. But "garbage"? In the 1980's it would have been the coolest movie ever. But apparently a movie with comedy elements is garbage now. Despite the fact that physical and situational comedy has been a mainstay of comedy since comedy began.

Doe's anyone have any idea how much action is going to be in Ironman?????

Oh,and I am pretty disappointed that the mark 2 armor in the Ironman movie is the exact same suit as the mark 3 armor but without the red and yellow!!!!
Why couldn't they have used a different suit???? I wonder if it was a budget issue.

I think Iron Man might end up with 80% or above on Tomato Meter and probably above 90% on the user meter or whatever they call it.

From what I've heard there's 4 action sequences, which apparently are too short. That gives you an idea of how much action you'll get.

You hit the nail on the head UF!

I think there is a bit more than that,I'm not totally sure though.
I'll Google it.

There were a total of 4 in the novelization. Seeing all these tv spots as well as the flood of new pics confirms all four being in the movie.
