Iron Man Tons of positive early screening Iron Man reviews

I think people just need to learn how to refrain from watching all the tv spots and clips.

You cannot blame paramount and marvel for releasing so much afterall they have to make sure this gets a big opening weekend.

Yea,I'm avoiding all clips,tv spots and trailers for the next 3 weeks.

Sound like a plan, but Goodluckw/ all of that. There starting to pop up all over now-

Still some of the ansillary clips may not even be in the final film.

I agree. I learned the hard way (after watching all of the cool action scenes for the first X-MEN movie on TV talk shows) to stay faaaaaaaaaarrrrrrr away from "exclusive" action scenes from action/sci-fi/fantasy/superhero movies, or else you might end up being disappointed/let down/under whelmed when you see the full movie.

This is very encouraging.

Funny about all the Nick Fury backlash, though. :funny:

Damn, I got involved in the Italian political elections and missed the press screening for the movie. And I won't be able to attend the other one on Monday because I'm needed at work. Life sucks...

This will be difficult, because that's what i'm trying to do as well. Though everytime I turn on my television, an iron man spot comes on. And everytime I turn on the net, an iron man clip is available!! :wow:
I've read one review, though, and it sounded very promising. I'm glad this isn't turning out to be another Ghost Rider or Fantastic Four.

I'm glad to hear about these positive reviews. Although I don't every let a critic steer me to or away from a film, as opinions differ, I just enjoy hearing Superhero flicks getting good wraps.:woot:

I find it pretty funny that people complain so much about being spoiled by trailers and clips like somebody´s pointing a gun to their heads to watch them...

 ha, good point

though temptation can often be an even stronger motivator than the threath of a gun

Hits a High Standard of Excellence... GREAT Film., 16 April 2008

All too infrequently, a much hyped blockbuster hits the mark with such power that it resonates above all others. Mark my words, Iron Man is such a movie. I've been privileged enough to view an advanced screening and, honestly, it's the best big budget movie that I've seen in many years. It hits a high standard of excellence for mass audiences by combining humor, a smart plot, breathtaking action sequences, a heavy dose of self discovery and realization, betrayal, forgiveness, love and puts it all together in one amazing package. The special effects and CGI are probably the best I've ever seen in terms of relatable effects. They're not over the top and don't overwhelm your senses. What's even more remarkable is this movie will surprise a lot of people with its depth while sacrificing none of the fun. The inner turmoil worked well, the beautiful thing is that we can relate to each character, especially that of Tony Stark. Stark's indomitable charm mixed with his flawed character makes this hero more interesting then most. Iron Man delivers action with great emotional moments and a movie that lives up to all the hype it has generated.

The cast is obviously stellar but that doesn't always mean greatness. (American Gangster, Street Kings anyone?) I'm happy to say this amazing cast delivers in every way. Downey himself delivers one of the greatest performances in a comic adaptation film EVER. Maybe it's because the character itself is one of the most complex and intriguing that any genre has to offer but that doesn't diminish just what a home run Downey has hit. They took the character seriously but still remembered to include fun and humor. I almost can't convey how much I enjoyed his performance.

Minor SPOILER....

My only real complaint is the rumor of a Sam Jackson cameo was not fulfilled. He is even listed here as playing the character of Nick Fury. He did not appear in the cut that I saw. After browsing, it's been offered that his cameo was probably just removed for the early screenings. I hope that's true and they put it back for the final cut. This means I'll just HAVE to see this movie again. LUCKY ME!

I don't think we've seen all there is too see, I think we've just seen the basic idea behind the action scenes. At least...I hope so.

Captain America had a movie. It was terrible, but he had one. It was called CAPTAIN AMERICA, and he wore plastic ears.

Captain America has had several live action attempts. There were all the 1940's serials made of him, plus two 1970's TV mini-series, and the horrible direct to video 1990 attempt.

Iron Man never had a live action interpretation before this film.

Here´s yet another positive review, from a soldier who saw it in Korea!

It sounds like they had a great time and the troops loved them at the Korean Premiere. This was posted by another soldier on IMDB...

Robert Downey Jr. is a totally awesome guy in person. He and Jon Favreau spent the evening at our small 3-screen military base theater for a free showing of Iron Man last night for a few hundred of us military servicemembers and some who have their families here.
The two of them are doing press junkets throughout Asia, and they were cool enough to get Paramount to agree to do an early screening here. He sat smack in the middle of the theater next to some excited kids and stayed for the whole thing even though the AC wasn't working quite right and Seoul has been in 80 degree plus weather.
We gave him a standing ovation at the end, and he stayed quite a while to sign stuff, autograph movie posters and hang out with the audience. I'm definitely gonna pay to see it again, I had such a good time - [the movie ROCKS btw]. Good amount of humor and some great performances by the A-list actors.

That's awesome that they screened it for the troops like that

I know nothing about Iron Man, but man this movie looks exciting. It's a good sign that the early buzz is positive.

I find is encouraging that every review so far has been positive. Iron Man has always been my favorite Marvel character and I've been waiting for this movie years. I just want to walk out of the theater pleased.

I don't see it bombing, but I just don't think it's going to clean up like an X-MEN or a BATMAN BEGINS.

Neither of those movies cleaned up. Semi-successes is what they were, especially worldwide.

Both of these movies were very successful, that´s why their sequels didn´t take long to happen and were made with the same basic cast and crew. They were not Spider-Man, but it´s terribly unfair to judge all blockbusters by that standard. A semi-success is something like Hulk, that´s spent five years in development hell, changed director, writers and cast, etc.
