It's nice to be posting again. In no particular order, in which I will do once the year is over:

21 Jump Street
The Raid
The Cabin in the Woods
The Avengers
Moonrise Kingdom
Beasts of the Southern Wild
The Dark Knight Rises
Killer Joe
The Secret World of Arrietty
Nameless Gangster

The avengers
Brave
The amazing spiderman
Tdkr
Bourne legacy
Hunger games
Wrath of the titans
MIB3

Really surprised to see the Bourne Legacy and John Carter in some people's top tens. I thought they were awful, particularly John Carter which had one of the worst pacing I've ever seen in a film.

Magic Mike just dropped off the list. With The Master and Looper on their way next month, I suspect Prometheus won't be lasting much longer, either.

1. The Avengers (9.5/10)
2. The Dark Knight Rises (9/10)
3. The Cabin in the Woods (9/10)
4. The Amazing Spider-Man (8.5/10)
5. ParaNorman (8.5/10)
6. The Raid (7.5/10)
7. 21 Jump Street (7.5/10)
8. The Hunger Games (7.5/10)
9. Brave (7/10)
10. Prometheus (7/10)

Honorable Mentions: Magic Mike (7/10), The Bourne Legacy (7/10)

Updated list.

1. Cabin in the Woods~9/10 (the second half of the movie is beyond amazing)
2. The Hunger Games~8.5/10 (After my second viewing I damn near fell in love with it. Thankgod for Jennifer Lawrence, a true gem of an actress)
3. Chronicle~8/10 (The most original film of the year perhaps. Great performances, actual character developement and a well done story. And I can't forget the best and most interesting flying scenes I've seen)
4. 21 Jump Street~8/10 (Hillarious. Tatum and Hill make a great team)
5. The Dark Knight Rises~7.5/10 (It had some great parts and some fine performances but like Batman Begins the movie has massive flaws and never comes together as well as it should)
6. The Avengers~7.5/10 ( Great performances and a great action scene at the end doesn't mask the fact that this is a dumb, hollow peice of entertainment that will not age well at all. The script just isn't there and the movie has no heart. I think that most will see that if Whedon is actually allowed to say and do something interesting with the sequel. Even if the sequel sucks I think most will catch on that the movie has nothing to offer beyond seeing well cast actors play Superhero for two plus hours)

I'll do the rest later.

Agree on Cabin in the Woods second half. I was disappointed with the first half because it was so cliche, and I kept on thinking how Joss was better than that. Then BAM! lol Movie really does require a second view, just to see how brilliant the first half is as well.
