Top Ten Most Anticipated Comic Book Movies

I honestly think that Transformers will only make Mission Impossible 3 numbers. I mean the movie is based on Hasbro toys.

But for God's sakes..it's a movie about giant robot. What kid doesn't want to see that? Honestly, moreso than Tom Cruise right?

It's too early to put The Dark Knight in, since we don't know crap about it nor it's in production. It's like putting in Sin City 2 to the list: We know it's going to happen but when?

Okay, then let's say Transformers will do SR type numbers. Here's why... Michael Bay. The guy has been handed numerous big budget blockbuster movies to make and only one... ONE!... has topped $200 million, and that was Armageddon with $201 million. The guy puts out great eye candy, but his heavy handed direction gets in the way of telling a story that pulls in the audience. Transformers might... MIGHT... limp to $200 million, but that's all. You heard it here first.

I hate to be the voice of doom but any records spidey breaks will be broken straight away by shrek and POTC :(

That's actually quite interesting. But looking at 2006 box office, very few films are getting to the 200m mark these days.

It's almost like, only franchises can cross that number. Hence Gladiator 2 talk and the like.

I'm waiting for Titanic 2: The Prequel.

I'm lookin forward to F4-2, TMNT, Wolverine, Batman 2, and of course Spider-Man 3!

I don't expect any others to be good.

you forget Shrek and POTC will be heavily competing with each other, well actually Shrek will just lose it's numbers to Pirates, because they are both comedies, and pirates feels fresher with awesome CGI. I do't think people want to see a Shrek 3. They will all remember Shrek 2 which had big numbers, but once you saw the movie, it seemed weak, which will make movie goers assume the third one will be weak.

Spider-Man will aleady have a huge opening weekend with massive word of mouth advertising before either one of those comes out. Spider-Man 3 is going to be bigger than both of those, and depending on how good it is, it might be bigger than both of those put together.

You're right. The old benchmark of $100 million being a "blockbuster" needs to be upped to at least $200 million.

I'm waiting for the sequel, but this time, it's a horror movie. The ghosts of titanic doing some crazy stuff.

yeah it's a comedy. did you see the first one or the second one? the first one was comedy/action, but the second one is

laugh your ass off till your stomach hurts/and let your jaw drop to the floor at the action and CGI.

I saw both. I liked the first one...but the second one wasn't really that funny.

Shrek 2 was an excellent film guys.

I still maintain that (POTC 2 not withstanding in some sort of freaky exception) that only a really good film will get huge box office (hence Shrek 2 doing what it did) whereas well-hyped but kinda ubbish films will eventually tail off (Godzilla, Hulk, Superman Returns).

Top Ten Most Anticipated Comic Book Movies

1. Spider-Man 3

There is one reason why every fanboy on earth cannot wait until May 4, 2007: Venom. Despite director Sam Raimi not initially being a fan of the character, Spidey fans will finally get to see the popular villain on the big-screen. Venom is being brought to life by actor Topher Grace, who plays Eddie Brock, a Daily Bugle employee and Peter Parker's (Tobey Maguire) doppelganger. The highly anticipated sequel also brings in another hugely popular character from the comics, Gwen Stacy (Bryce Dallas Howard), as well as Sandman (Thomas Haden Church) and a vengeful Harry Osborn (James Franco) as secondary villains. The big question about Spider-Man 3 isn't how many box office records it will undoubtedly shatter but which character(s) get killed off. Judging by the intense but crowd-pleasing trailer, Spider-Man 3 will be the darkest and most dangerous entry yet in the blockbuster franchise.

....so your gonna go into a video store and rent POTC1 or 2 and walk straight to the comedy section looking for it...
I suppose you think the same thing about The Mummy.
....and as much as the filmmakers of Fight Club try to convince you that its a comedy...you'll never find it in a comedy section...its either action or drama.
POTC2 is an action/adventure movie, which can be described as an unusual and exciting experience...but to call it straight up comedy:o :down
