Toy Story 4

With animated movies taking forever as it is, that's more or less what I had already been expecting.

Am I a dick if I secretly hope for this movie to keep getting pushed back? I know it's all about the $$$ but Toy Story 3 was such a perfect ending.

They've done like five shorts since 3 came out, what difference will another movie make?

Shorts are different for me. I don't know.

You also don't have to see the 4th film if you don't want to haha. If 3 was the perfect ending for you, you can easily keep it that way.

I think if you look at the series as the story of these toys being Andy's, then yeah, it should end with 3.

If you look at it with the idea that the toys are essentially immortal... the story is endless.

I myself am happy we are getting a 4th even though I adore 3 and how it ended.

That's never a good excuse when anyone says that, though. Refusing to see it doesn't mean it ceases to exist. If it's good, it's good. But the trilogy worked as a film centered around Andy's toys for me. But hey, if it's a good film, awesome. I just don't want it to somehow be less than stellar since Toy Story is arguably the greatest film trilogy of all-time.

I agree. I honestly really enjoy the short films, because they're different, but still work. They aren't out to do anything big to the franchise, but they give us insight into what the toys are doing now that they're with Bonnie.

It's a pretty good excuse if you're able to not let the fact that another one exists bother you. Some people can't do that, seems you're one of them. Which is fine I guess, I myself just don't find it that hard to do at all. I can do it all the time with tv series or films. It's a simple solution. Not for everyone, but others can do it.

I fail to understand this logic. Ignoring it doesn't mean it doesn't exist. It's not an excuse, it's ignorance.

With Don Rickles not having done any recording yet, I wonder if they just drop the character. I don't think Rickles will be quite as easily replaced as Jim Varney was...

I read an article about how he hadn't done any work for Toy Story 4 before he passed, and the article said they could use recordings of him from the previous three movies for Potato Head in the new movie.

Now maybe they have enough dialogue and ad-libbing from him to create new lines for Potato Head, but if they go that route it would be a lot like in "South Park" after Isaac Hayes quit when they used previously recorded lines from past episodes for Chef in one episode.

The ending for Toy story 1 was pretty darn good anyway, no need for a 2 and 3. But 2 and 3 were marvellous movies... Hope 4 keeps up the quality

I can't really see how they can get rid of the Mr. Potato Head character, he's one of the main cast. I think they're going to have to recast.

I recently found out that Toy Story 2 was accidentally almost completely deleted when they were very close to completing the movie, and it was only saved because one of the animators who was home on maternity leave had a backup copy. O_O

That's just kind if not how pop culture works.
If you hate the force awakens for getting rid of the old expanded universe, that's fine but in the culture at large Kylo Ren is the son of Han Solo not Been it Anakin Solo you know?

I can ignore Prometheus all I want but that doesn't change the fact that the filmmakers and studios involved have given an official answer to the mystery of what the Space Jockey was in alien.

Now I see Andrew Stanton saying it's BS.

Damage polio control.

Dang.
And Hartmut Neugebauer, the german voice of Mr. Potato Head is dead. :(

That's...damn. Even for Pixar, it's heavy.

It would explain a lot of plotholes as it said in regards to how Woody could be Andy's toy for as long as he's been created. It's actually pretty sad.
