I can promise you that the Cannon ruling will be appealed, but she got, and did, exactly what she wanted. String things along as long as possible and then dismiss the case. Smith "may" ask SCOTUS to hear the appeal directly (but he may also have learned his lesson). I think if I'm Smith I appeal it, but not to the SCOTUS. There's a "chance" they wouldn't hear the appeal, but they won't allow Smith to leapfrog the lower court (again), Cannon will, I think be off the case from here on out, but she's done the damage she set out to do by inordinately delaying the case. She's bucking for a SCOTUS seat if Trump wins.

The Cannon ruling was inevitable. The good thing, is she did this now, before a jury was seated, where she could dismiss it with prejudice. I do think, this may be able to be the straw for Smith to convince the 11th to assign it to a different judge.

I’m not surprised at all that Trump’s extremists are turning against him.

To my recollection, the FBI have been stating this would become the case since 2016.

Thus, nothing about this surprises me other than the timing of right before the election.

The far right, make no mistake, WANTS Project 2025. Thus, Trump distancing himself from the farther right was always going to infuriate them.

That it probably did also isn’t surprising at all.

As said the only thing surprising here is right before the election rather than during the primaries or some time into Trump’s potential second administration.

That was my feelings on this, she was always going to hang herself eventually, this made it easier on the prosecuters, her excuse carries no water and she has been scolded numerous times in other cases by the 11th circuit court, this appears to be just another example of her bias towards Trump and lack of knowledge for the law, her ruling literally flies in the face of every other special council that has been amounted over the last 100 years or more.
