CinemaSins has another video up. This time for 'Dark of the Moon'. I can't decide if the Movie was as bad, or actually worse than ROTF.

Rated PG-13 for intense sequences of sci-fi violence and action, language and brief innuendo.

I'll see it. It's mindless but I feel like I got off a ride after I see these movies lol

I personally think that DOTM is better than ROTJ, but that's not really saying much. It's like saying that a polished turd is better than a normal turd. Technically true, but hardly impressive.

Dark of the Moon is bad, but i never trust CinemaSins, their videos are more like jokes where they can nit pick whatever they like. Honestly, DotM is still miles above Revenge of the Fallen, that film was just an assault on all sences, with Dark of the Moon i was still able to have fun with the Chernobyl, Freeway and City battles .

I realize that. I enjoy the nitpicks, even when they are ripping on my favorite Movies. The videos are just in jest. But they often truthfully point out a Movie's flaws. And I forgot how many there actually were in DOTM. Frick, I completely forgot that the Movie had several Turturro characters. Characters that are just there to act like clowns. Deep Wang man. Deep, freaking, Wang.

I wonder how you were ever supposed to care about humans in these Movies. Unless they are soldiers, humans in these Movies were sitcom characters.

I barely remember any of them. The only battles I can still recall are the ones from the first Movie. Since it was the first time we got a live action Transformers Movie, it just made a stronger impression on me. From the second, I only really recall the forest battle. Everything else is basically white noise. I blame ROTF's final battle for that. It desensitized me, and made me stop caring.

So?

The problem is that people will forever be judging these films in the wrong criteria. No one judges 22 jump street as some failed version of Heat but rather some sitcom buddy cop movie filled with people acting like clowns.

There are a bunch of academy award caliber actors hamming it up in these films as they do their other comedy summer films, for they seemingly understand just what it is they are going for. A fun summer good time. This is plainly evident when Rose Byrne hams it up in neighbors or Cooper in Hangover but when bay has his people do it(malkovich or will smith) there is some sort of disconnect.
It's insane.

I can't wait for people to proclaim this is Marks worst acting job. Especially in light of things like his own buddy cop movie.

The irony here is that of all times for people to lose sight of this, it's when the man is adapting an 80s saturday morning toy commercial. If bay was given the Beverly hills cop remake, I could only expect people would lose just as much perspective there too. Even if he hired Eddie Murphy.
It's about intent.
Action Comedy.

One that has found an unprecedented and consistent amount of success with world wide audiences. And all that without the crutch of:
'from the studio that brought you avengers last summer'
'from the director of TDK last summer'
'from james cameron'
'this is a star wars thing'

just based on it's own growing connection with it's audience. I say that cause there are a bunch of films(see xmen for example) that lose their audience when they fail.

The best is when people start with the calculated double standards as they pertain to offensive jokes and racism. I digress.

Some people actualy enjoy those type of characters, which is why we get so many dumb comedies, and how Adam Sandler has been conning the audience for so many years. Most don't seem to care about a three dimensional character, because being people, to much of the GA, a fictional character is already tridimensional, in least i see this being something difficult to explain with most people, who don't realy see much of a reason for how these clowny characters are any less developed than others.

Giant Epic battles along with an emotional soundtrack and manipulative cinematography also help cloud the notion that the film has flaws for many.

or maybe they're entertained by these movies

As expected, it seems if you enjoyed the previous ones you'll enjoy this one. If not then probably no.

That's a false equivalency. 22 Jump Street and Beverly Hills Cop were set up to be comedies from the very beginning, and they advertised their rauchiness. Transformers was not. And Bay explicitly said that DOTM would be more serious, and it turned out to be a flat-out lie on his part. And the "it's just robots fighting" excuse fails as well. Things like Beast Wars or Transformers Prime shows that you can do that, and still tell reasonably mature/serious stories. And they certainly didn't rely on racist/sexist/homophobic/offensive humor. That's all on Bay.

Glad to see Drew from hitfix dug this

Sounds like some of the issues with the humor have been fixed.

It was more serious though. There were alot of darker things going on in it. It just didn't completely fix the immature humor people have issues with. It was much worse in ROTF imo.

They are ramping up the media blitz like crazy. Every other ad on TV has been a commercial or tie in.

Yeàh if you go see it at like7pm you ain't getting out till like 10-ish.

From what I've read in reviews it sounds like Grimlock doesn't talk. :csad:

It's obvious from the previews that the dinobots are there just for an action sequence and have no real character arc.

Sure, but the bots all usually get lines even without an arc. Jolt is the only autobot I can remember not talking through the whole franchise.

Though I am disappointed that it seems Bay doesnt seem to have another TF1 level movie in him, I do come to this franchise to be entertained by a live action version of a cartoon I loved as a kid.

And all of these movies, despite not being very good, have entertained me, and it seems like AOE will as well, which is all I ask.

^That is a hell of a long run-time, never thought a movie in this franchise would be longer than the last 2, but oh well.

I have always said I would prefer a movie be overly long than overly short.
