Age of Extinction Transformers 4 is going to be AWESOME. - Part 1

Transformers movies have racist-sexist undertones alongwith crude humor.

Some dialogues are cringe-worthy too.

In a way, yes.

Why would a studio exec greenlight a completely original sci-fi film that needs a 150 million dollar budget when they know audiences will just flock to the big franchise film instead?

I don't really blame people for that. There is nothing wrong with going to the cinema to see some explosive action movie that is part of a well known franchise. Course not. That is what the cinema is all about really.

But for me and a lot of other people, Transformers isn't simply an mindless explosive action movie. It's something much more insidious and morally rotten. It isn't just junk food like a Big Mac. It's something that has gone off and will give you salmonella. Like a 2 year out of date hot-dog that has been laying underneath the deep fat fryer for a year.

I honestly don't know what has happened to Bay. Look at films like The Rock and Armageddon. Compare them to his Transformers sequels. The Rock and Armageddon have moral compasses. The heroes are REALLY heroes. Bruce Willis' sacrifice in Armageddon is fantastic. Compare his Harry Stamper with this Optimus Prime.

so between 2007 and now no studio has put out original, intelligent science fiction movies.
District 9
Avatar
Moon
Splice
Book of Eli
Inception
Monsters
Attack the Block
In Time
Branded
Cloud Atlas
Looper
Elysium
Gravity
Her
Oblivion

I'm sure there are many more i'm missing.

Is this material acceptable viewing for children and teenagers who will no doubt think gleefully killing your enemies makes you a bad ass? That women are nothing but eye candy who should be protected and saved?
I'll try and keep this in mind the next time I see goblin killing turned into a sport in which head counts are kept in good fun. Head shot after head shot that is. As for pretty and helpless women being saved, sorry but over 80 years of disney using the prince charming paradigm might be more other your time. And those were very much made and sold to kids(G rating).
These films don't get such vitrolic hate because they are innocent, mindless fun. They get vitrolic hate because they are morally repugnant and represent the very worst in humanity.
I wouldn't even use that to describe a film like hostel. This is slowly turning into sensationalism imo. Insert nancy grace gif.

I just don't understand why we can't get a Transformers movie that more like TRANSFORMERS: PRIME ! The writers of the series on that show knew how to keep the mythology intact and still present the Transformers in a new light. We got to see Optimus vs Megatron, Unicron, The revitalization of Cybetron , Bumblebee voice restored, Upgraded Optimus, etc....
For the same reasons we don't get CBM's that are as involved as the comics. The wolverine movie vs his books... Different demo's and research to appease. There is alot more invested by the producers in this realm so things get far less niche. Live action movies have always been primarily about humans(in the lead)..etc.
Point being, these movies make a great deal more return than any of the shows, they probably pull in more adults and girls that really couldn't give 2 minutes to tf prime. The show costs less so it can do other things. What's more, the show isn't 2 hours. Tv will always have that base advantage. There's a reason 10 characters in GOT have more time and development than Gimli an Legolas and most anyone in these LotR things.

Oh, are people still pretending the Twins were racist?

Exaggerated racial caricatures ...... if you want to continue splitting hairs. They were created for nothing other than the purposes of pandering, insensitively so.

I wish we didn't bifurcate our discussion into two separate threads.

I haven't seen this film yet and really didn't like Revenge of the Fallen or Dark of the Moon but it's ridiculous how some of you are acting like this franchise had sex with your mothers.
i watched TF4 to see ILM's showreel on a big screen with good sound. and because my friends enjoy a laughing at modern Bay movies. they are stupid and make no sense.

but you have no idea...........you have noooooooooooooo idea how stupid this movie gets. 90% makes NO sense. no sense. everything is made up from scene to scene. things happen for no reason. i think that you could cut 20 minutes from this movie and you would get the same story and the same amount of action. you have no idea how long the talking scenes are.

i watched the movie in 2D. but now i am reading that the 3D imax versions has scenes where Bay cuts from normal to imax frames between the dialoge. what? Nolan and Brad Bird decided to have the whole sequence in IMAX . for example in MI4 the dubai tower scenes. you can not switch between the dialoge scenes.

Indeed.

Transformers probably subsidizes riskier movies. It brings in a profit which allows the executives to play a little.

Lockdown's theme is awesome, great theme for the best character in these films yet.

Wait, so have I really just been reading that the alien killed in Lockdown's ship was MADE to look like a like a vagina and Bay did this purposefully?

I had never even considered the alien looking like a vagina until coming here and hearing about it, people see what they want to see I suppose, but to say did it purposefully? Wow.

I get that these films arent for everyone, and that many people dont enjoy them, but I personally get exactly what I expect out of these movies. But the above is total conjecture and not something I would say is true, it didnt enter mine or my brothers mind that the alien was made to look like a vagina when we saw it put it that way.

I think what it looked like doesn't even matter. I think the bigger issue is that you've got an Autobot, who shoots a caged alien, because it spit in his face, and calling it b**ch.

Well what you have prestented is a much better argument than this 'vagina looking alien' nonsense.

I thought it fit with Hounds personality and was just a throwaway funny scene though to be honest.

I think it simply wasn't needed. Just like Cade's daughter didn't need to be 17, and we didn't need to raise the topic of underage sex in a Transformers Movie.

Oh my god 17 year olds are having sex, what is the world coming to?

Hound and Drift should give you all the insight you need into Bay's "creative" mind. But, money talks and it's the reason why he was begged to direct the new TMNT movies.

Which he's not doing.

Obvious really

I have a REALLY strong feeling that if that alien bug scene was in, say, Iron Man 4 or Avengers 2 and Tony shot it with his repulsors and called it *****....it would either be a non-issue or people would be praising it as a funny scene.

What was the point if the boyfriend being Irish?

Dude never even had an accent until they brought up the fact he was Irish.

Then it disappeared again.

Except those movies have never had something that crude in it.
