Any kid in their right mind would be depressed and agitated by the film.

No one over the age of 25 should find this film enjoyable. If they do then they have the taste of 12 year old.

It's actually a really creepy film in many respects in terms of the messages it's sending.

I can't believe I'm saying this, but I'd rather my kids were watching Night at the Museum 2 than Revenge of the Fallen.

Why?

And if so, why did so many kids apparently enjoy it, and not leave the movie "depressed and agitated"?

Why? Is there some moral imperative that we all be elitist film buffs who don't enjoy a popcorn action movie once in a while? Does enjoying TRANSFORMERS and REVENGE OF THE FALLEN somehow mean we can't also enjoy loftier approaches to film as well as simpler ones?

How so?

Seriously. Look at a movie like E.T. or the Wizard of Oz and compare it to Transformers 2. Then try to tell me that Transformers 2 is made with a sense of childlike wonder.

Not to mention the films coming out of Pixar...

I know what your saying but i think alot of the humor would go over these kids heads.

It's heavy emphasis on misogynistic depictions of women. It's xenophobic mind-set. It's glorification of the military industrial complex.

I'd say that it's argument of violence as the definitive answer to problems is problematic, but that one sorta comes hand-in-hand with making a giant fighting robot movie.

Interesting. Elaborate.

And...movies in general. :)

well considering we've been shown as baby killers and sadistic monsters for the last few years in film I think I rather enjoy someone showing me and my fellow sailors, airmen, marines and soldiers in a good light for once

Well, the misogny one should be pretty obvious. Just take a glance at Maxim College, where all girls dress like hookers and seem to on the cusp of orgasm at all times. Even Megan Fox`s character, first seen with the camera salaciously panning over her ass, is basically window-dressing with nothing to do but look hot and jiggle. Hell, even the first one gave her something to do in the final battle. This one just lets her be dragged around by Shia the entire time. To call her even two-dimensional would be kind.

Xenophobia is something of a problem in a number of Bay films, Armageddon and Bad Boys II being also offenders, in that he waves the American flag with hyper-active gusto, and paints the USA as the greatest country in the world, while portraying other countries in incredibly simplistic lights, often primitive in fact. Look at the sole human representations of Egypt in this film, with the bumbling border guards. And don`t forget the Jordanian army who, unlike the American army, are swatted down like gnats within 15 seconds of appearing. Heck, the sole representative of Shanghaì`s population (correct me if I`m wrong here) is an old man in Fu Manchu garb eating noodles.

As for the glorification of the miilitary, do I even need to explain this one further... The endless majestic visual slow-mo pornography of battleships, fighter jets and soldiers. The infinite scenes of anonymous military people dramatically spouting jargon. This is a Bay motif which has been consistent throughout his career.

They did have a good portrayal of the military industrial complex. Showing misogynistic depiction of Megan Fox isn't there fault , She is just that hot.

Michael Bay is a patriot.

Yeah, I can sympathize on that one. I have no problem with paying tribute to the men and women serving, but it`s the fetishizing of the military which is troubling.

and I also seem to recall the British special forces were also apart of NEST and were doing there thing in the final battle

The military does this in it's own advertisements.

People WANTED more sexed up Fox. Fox knows her appel, Bay knows her appel....so, why not exploit it? Hell, there are even people who JUST wanted to see Fox. So...its not misogynistic. People just love Megan Fox.

The actually gave one commander a couple decent lines.

Okay, and what about the rest of the women in the film:huh:

would you rather *********e or get laid....giving yourself credit is all well and good but its better from someone else

whats great about our country is Michael Bay can make a movie super patriotic like this and others can make movies showing america as evil and what not

What's great about America is that you're really far away from Australia. Lucky us. :oldrazz:
