Cillian Murphy in line for 'Tron' sequel
He's currently starring in the latest Enda Walsh play Ballyturk, but actor Cillian Murphy (inset) could soon be making a return to the silver screen.

American actress Olivia Wilde is also rumoured to be joining the cast.

It's a busy time for Cillian on stage and on screen, as he's also awaiting the release of the second series of his BBC Two period crime drama Peaky Blinders, with Tom Hardy and Helen McCrory.

The new trailer for the programme is to premiere at a football match in the UK this weekend - showing at half time during Birmingham City's home game against Leeds United.

Peaky Blinders is made and set in Birmingham with production bosses saying it's a way of saying thank you to the City fans, who have been dressing up in costumes similar to those in the show for away matches.

It is happening but I think it's been a while since there's been any news.

Good.
Last news I had was no sequel was in the pipe, nothing official at least.
I miss The Grid and I need a new dose of Quorra.

Tron: Destiny from Anthony Scott Burns

Brad Pitt's Plan B Teams With 'Robopocalypse' Writer for Sci-Fi Thriller 'Alpha' (Exclusive)

Anthony Scott Burns, a Canadian filmmaker, is attached to make his feature debut with Alpha, which Pitt would produce with his Plan B partners Dede Gardner and Jeremy Kleiner.

Burns made waves when he directed a self-made fan trailer for Tron. He followed that up with a moody and intriguing sci-fi-tinged short titled Manifold, seen below.

Filmmaker Anthony Scott Burns discusses his background and thoughts on storytelling as well as filmmaking.

At this point, it looks like Disney has no plans for more Tron.

I'm sure people were saying the same thing 20 years ago.

I don't mind waiting 30 years between Tron movies. It was really cool the first time around seeing all the advances in technology. I hope they can astonish me again.

Probably because 20 years ago Disney didn't have squat for sci-fi-action franchises. Now they've got S.H.I.E.L.D. in one hand and the Jedi in the other. So now I DEFINITELY wouldn't hold my breath in anticipation.

This

I never thought about it but somewhere on here someone mentioned that Tron was one of Disney's attempts for a boy focused franchise, along with John Carter.

We all know how John Carter turned out in terms of box office returns, but Tron was decent.
But with Star Wars and Marvel, Disney wont be in a rush to get Tron off the ground anytime soon. At least I seriously doubt they will

This is the God Honest truth here.

Even Tron Legacy made money back, it was due to overseas and home sales. But sometimes that's not enough to warrant another 150 million dollar sequel where the out come is "WE COULD get our money back through China. Maybe a profit from Blu-Ray". There's too many 'maybes'.

Then Tron Destiny got cancelled too; and once again Tron is dead in the public lexicon.

Now with a movie like Pacific Rim 2, that is an anomaly. It doesn't happen often and it depends on who's running the show. I think Legendary (for the most part) tends to go against the grain vs the traditional system.

Exclusive: Joseph Trapanese scoring 'Divergent' sequel 'Insurgent'

Is there any update on those Joseph Kosinski projects, the Tom Cruise Le Mans film or the follow-up to "Tron: Legacy?"

For that Le Mans project, I would love to be involved if that moves forward. Joe Kosinski, in my book, is one of the greatest working directors out there. Any time he asks me to jump, I say "How high?".

And for "Tron 3," every few months, I hear a rumble from a friend who's either a sound designer or a producer, someone involved who was on "Tron" say, "I hear it's coming... I hear it's coming." I hear it's coming and I know they are actively working on it, but stars have to align for everyone to get the green light. Hopefully that happens soon, because I would love to strike up the band again and do something new for the Tron world.

Hey, it's her viewpoint.

No he's not the one of the worst. But he's like a Zach Snyder-lite; a great visualist but cannot bring out any sort of emotion to any scene.

He's good at visuals but his stories/handling of scripts needs to be improved

I wouldn't say Kosinski is brilliant but he shows amazing promise and I've loved what he's done so far. Look forward to anything he's attached to.
