Tron Legacy Sequels

Bingo.

I was literally just about to type something along those lines.

THe same could basically be said in regards to First Class too. First Class was really well liked almost all around. TL has/had a very meh reception from what Ive seen. It seems more like a cult film.

I enjoy it though. Have the blu ray and the soundtrack

Still it wouldnt be much of a set back for Disney. Worst case scenario it would have broken even nondoubt about it. I didnt watch the first tron until recently and its a very weird movie. I had a hard time following what was going on. I didnt know what to expect from legacy but I was plesently surprised and I would see a sequel after experiencing it, like most of us here I would imagine. Not to mention daft punk got even bigger and that score realm made a difference.

I don't know I'm not a marketing guy but from my view the same people that saw legacy would probably see a tron 3 movie. It didn't have the best reception but I would recommend it to a friend to give it a chance. And how much money is in those Disney vaults? Just with the left overs of the avengers, the animated movies and the live action ones, plus SW coming up I don't understand the risk factor. Tomorrow land had a much higher risk factor and a confusing campaign. It said that families were 30,% percent of the audience for TL? How is that even possible for a PG movie? Now a days if you dont make 100 million in a weekend its a bad opening, movies dont even get to chance to get some legs.

Anyway I still hope someday they think this through again. I know they are a company and all that, but that doesn't mean you can take risks, and in this case it seem very minor ones, minor than tomorrow land for sure

Olivia Wilde was great in Tron Legacy. It is a shame that she has had the best and worst luck ever career wise, because she's gorgeous, charming and can act.

She has! She had a reoccurring role in House before nabbing Quora, and now she mostly does indie films. She's got some great buzz on Meadowland though, I hope more casting directors suggest her for bigger roles in bigger films. She doesn't need to be slumming it in a crappy Blumhouse film like The Lazarus Effect.

So they've canceled it because they can't figure out when to release it?...

They could always have canceled movies like Jungle Book, Petes Dragon, and Dumbo I don't think anyone was asking for live action versions of them.

I didn't even particularly care for the last film outside of the music and visuals but I still would have given this one a shot.

Disney Not Moving Forward With 'Tron 3'

They were looking to add Jared Leto to the cast.

No, that wasn't the thing that got Disney to cancel Tron 3. It didn't perform that great in ancillaries, i.e. merchandising, pay-TV and DVD/Blu-ray sales.

Oh, that's what I read on Variety.

“We had never greenlit the movie, but it was in development for some time,” said one Disney executive, discussing the sensitive decision to table the project. “Things in the queue got ahead of it and we have such a big slate out in front of it, we started to think, ‘Where does it go?’ And it’s a pretty big investment to make if you are not even sure when you are going to release it.”

I was really looking forward to this movie...

Let me guess Disney would rather make a cars 3 and planes 3 then Tron

This news makes me sad :( Tron Legacy was a fun film, great merch and soundtrack too.

That's Disneys main goal now. They make movies to sell toys

The thing is that Disney has a good argument: they never announced Tron 3. It was info leaked out by deadline.

I get what you are saying but... just for info, Jungle Book movie (under development) is from WB, not Disney.

There's two Jungle Book movies, which is weird. One from Disney and the other from WB.

There's two actually one from WB and one from Disney in development. I kid you not this is how unoriginal the state of the industry is. 2 different studios adapting the same book at the same time. And I'm case of Disney they already made an animated masterpiece out of it. I know its a business man nut at least have some dignity and don't make decisions solely based on money

It's obvious they were getting close to a greenlight though. I know some deny it but I do think Tomorrowland had something to do with Disney just shelving the project. It's not difficult to imagine Disney getting cold feet after yet another live action Disney flop.

It's so strange that in 2016 we'll have on Jungle Book (disney) and then in 2017 (wb), we'll have another. Different studios sure, but how different will the movies be? It's redundant. Also, what happens if Disney's version bombs?

I think WB's version is more likely to flop, I have no idea why they decided to do that film.

Yeah they were getting close, the cast were pretty much back. I don't deny Tomorrowlands performance was a factor, but it is a stupid one if true. Torn has a built in audience already and possibly even more fans by now. I never saw Legacy at the cinema but wouldn't miss the next one, and I am sure there are others who were in the same boat.

Well there were also two Snow White films and two White House under attack films in the same years respectively.
