TV series that have lasted too long?

Soaps, like Coronation Street, Eastenders, Emmerdale. They are badly acted, badly written, awfully shot, and have no place in today's TV landscape.

Also -- even though it's not currently exactly the same show, I can't believe how long the Stargate TV franchise has lasted. It was only marginally interesting to start with, and it's somehow lasted over a decade...

yup, its apparently on tonight on abc.

The Simpsons, it lost it's magic years ago. It's taken the well worn path that many sticoms do when they have been on too long, which is relying heavily on one character. Almost every episode now is about some stupid adventure of Homers. In my opinion it was some of the minor characters that really gave the show its charm. I'd love to see them do an episode or two where the characters have aged in real time.

Do you just mean the newer seasons of Doctor Who from 2005-2008?

Or do you mean the whole series from the beginning? Because if that's the case, keep in mind it was off the air from 1989-2005.

Happy Days ran a few seasons too long, should have ended it after Ron Howard left the show to become a highly successful film director. The show went downhill after he left.

Also, Walker Texas Ranger went a bit too long, but the good news was that we got to see the Walker Texas Ranger lever on Conan O'Brien.

By the mid 80's I would have said the same but it had a break and come back better than ever. Next year is another break year and after that we have a new team taking over for a few years it keeps it fresh

I don't know how anyone can wish the Simpsons or King of the Hill away, especially KOH. It's always had great writing and never relied on potty humor or offensive content to get laughs. There's a reason it's been on so long.

I agree with you on King of the Hill.To me it's the best animated show on FOX right now,but the Simpsons have got to go.It's past it's prime and not getting better.Mad Tv needs to be cancelled also.

They have nothing in the pipeline that can replace it.

Salaries have gone up and ratings have gone down. Eventually Fox will cancel it.
