Twilight of Asgard: the SURTUR thread

Hopefully Hulk just lands a blow that only annoys Surtur before he's swatted like a fly and flies miles or atleast hundreds of meters away.

Or Surtur swats him out of the air before the blow even lands, but we all know Marvel isn't going to let Hulk go out like that.

Id love this..since he stoll Thor's money shot ;)

That said, how big does he seem here? 100 feet tall? A bit bigger?

Hopefully somewhere in the 300-400 foot range, atleast have him be as tall as Godzilla.

He doesn't appear to be that big though here. If Hulk is 8 feet tall, I'm guessing Surtur's head is 20. I'd say he's the size of Kong from Skull Island.

Its 130am here. I need to go to sleep haha. Good chattin with you BT, it's been years

Surtur looks amazing! I hope no one gets him mixed up with Dormammu though

I thought Hulk was like 9 or 10 feet tall, also we don't know how close he is in relation to Surtur. The angle of the shot might suggest that he's closer than he actually is.

Yeah it's good chatting with you as well it's been quite a while, but I've honestly missed these boards dearly.

In comparison to some of the comics he seems to be about right.

I think people can distinguish them with no problem at all. Surtur looks very different that Dormammu and i do think Surtur is gonna have a bigger part to play.

Eh. . . distinguishable, yes. Bigger part? I'm kind of doubtful. Surtur might be on screen more than Dormammu, but I suspect his story importance will be about the same, probably less. Where Dormammu was the Satan that Kaecilius was trying to sell out to, Surtur is probably "just" going to be an apocalypse beast Hela unleashes to serve her own purposes. Not mindless, but not plot-driving. Dramatically speaking, he'll be a WMD, not a character.

Clancy Brown is voicing him, he's the ruler of a realm. He will undoubtly be a character. Not huge but I bet he has a motive to burn all, and he and Hela have a common goal. She lays out the field, and lets Surtur do his thing.

No one expected Dormammu in Dr. Strange, and he was the movie's villain

No one expected Aldrich Killian and he was the villain of Iron Man 3.

I don't know how that's even possible.

They don't look anything alike.

Most people will just see a large CGI monster with a deep scary voice unless they do it right.

I think he looks perfect though

Same, I can't wait to see all of him. From the funko pop, he looks like a giant demon skeleton wreathed in fire, it's a pretty cool design.

Surtur will probably just be like a big monster and not much of a character.

He'll clearly have some character to him and not be a mindless monster, but I wouldn't go into the movie expecting that he has a large part. Hela is guaranteed to be the main villain, and rightly so since she's not a CGI creature but a fantastic actress.

I'm sure Surtur will be awe inspiring when he's on screen though, and I'm very interested to hear what he has to say.

Also we know that Thor goes to muspelheim early in the film so obvious he's going to have a bigger role than randomly appearing at the end.

I like how everyone keeps conviently forgetting about that.

Clancy voicing Surtur gives me some hope he will be more than just a generic monster.
Although he also voiced Parallax and we all know how that turned out...

So in some way Hela is probably going to awake him through that head?
I could see that happening. If the skull is in Asgard when Hela takes the throne then probably it would be in her interest to bring Surtur back and probably with the "Eternal Flame" he just becomes way more powerful.

We know that Surtur appears 2 different moments in the movie. In the beginning where Thor apparently fights him but he's somehow a different version. And then later on after Sakaar when Surtur is apparently in his prime form. That explains the head being smaller and Thor being able to carry it while in the end it's a whole other level of threat.

Really interesting stuff. So there's much more to this movie than we think at first glance. The hole Mupselheim, Surtur situation is still a bit of a mystery.

Now that we really know what that skull is it makes for such a badass image of Thor.
