I couldn't make it through the first twilight, whereas I'm an avid Potter reader.

I'm sure the book has its audience, but I'm not it.

I kind of thought that Vampires used in the effect that they were in this book came across as cheesy.

This thing is getting huge, especially with the last book coming out in August the fan-meter will be going up. I think it's possible(and probably would be surprising to the non-fans) how Twilight will do. Even some guys are getting into it- there's this site Twilight Guy who's kinda dissecting the book but posting his thoughts on each chapter. but i think the movie will appeal more to guys than the books. so I for one am on Team Vamp.

No need to, but they won't boycott the other and will act civilized about it. And the ones who don't sound like fanboys and are too in the minority. I remember fangirls trying to start a massive boycott of SM3 so it would 'bomb" and not measure up to AWE's box office...that one sure worked out.

I really dont think you can even compare the two. I doubt whoever came up for the idea for that story has read either of the books.

Yeah when it comes to the number of fans HP has, they will surely have a bigger impact in theaters

but Twilight is getting pretty good to only having 3 books out so far while HP has more than 5

Im opposite, i read HP when i was younger and made it to the part where he was planning to run away, around that time i just found it boring

I went into reading Twilight now knowing what the book was about at all, but someone had recommended it, and i ended up liking it alot

i've read all the books in both series and to be honest i still can't see how this rivalry got started. the only similarities in each series is that they are lengthy books and they have a female author.

none of the characters are alike, none of the storylines are similar. but they are both enjoyable reads imo.

First I've heard of Twilight, I think it's gonna have a real difficult time beating Harry Potter at the box office though. I liked the part about the book knocking Harry Potter off the best seller list, yeah when, don't think it was the first week of release when most fans bought the book. I'd find it hard to believe the the entire series of books has matched the sales of only the final Harry Potter book.
