Days of Future Past Twitter Reactions/Early reviews by fans THREAD

I never hype myself over movies. They will never leave up to it ever. I have expectations like I expect cap 3 to be as good or better than winter soldier for example since same people are involved. I have no hype for dofp because Singer is directing again and since I never completely loved the previous ones he did, I expect some of the same issues to remain. Still excited though.

It's why I don't watch clips before I see the movie. I basically no attention to it until I get to see it, outside of watching the trailers. I just enjoy them more that way.

I found out the Wolverine cameo in FC before I saw it, but I didn't tell my dad about it, and he cracked up so much when he saw it, it made up for having that spoiled ahead of time.

We're seeing DOFP opening weekend, and I'm not telling him a thing about it so it'll be fun watching him enjoy it (he's going to love it).

Yeah, I don't like to watch clips either although I watched like 3 clips once that I wished I didn't for dofp. Couldn't help myself. I don't mind the spoilers but I don't like to watch it ahead of the actually movie. Seeing it and reading about it are totally different for me. I haven't watch the quicksilver clip yet and I will not.

Thought the film was ok.

Really liked Quicksilver.
Film was wayy too short! :(

Arya Stark liked it

Way too short??? Even being longer than X2 and First Class?

Its not longer than X2 or First Class. It does feel a bit short, but there is so much going on, and the climax is a bit abrupt. Its got a swift pace and FEELS short in that your having a good time.

I have a very honest and stupid question.

Given all these positive reactions and ratings, I cannot help myself but set my expectations a little too high.

Is there any way I can still enjoy DOFP even though I have spoiled myself with these power piece videos and a very few vague spoilers in the forum (I only know about the cameos in the end and Rogue's situation which saddens me)?

I fear that my constant research on the movie here in the forums plus the outpour of clips of the future mutants are going to ruin the movie for me. To be honest, I am looking forward to seeing the future mutants rather than the past ones even though they only appear for a few minutes.

One thing is that I will try to avoid this forum until I watch DOFP.

Is there any other way that I can come to the cinemas with an open mind so that I can enjoy this movie without expecting tooooo much? Haha.

Read the few negative reviews carefully and learn them up word by word :o

Rewatch the earlier ones you like. Recognize the things you don't like about them. You will still have a good time with those movies, but you take them as they are. After all, they're just movies meant to entertain. DOFP will be the same. Just get to that simple state of mind.

I've watched tons of movies this year, most being 2-40 years old ones that I've seen before. Helps getting into that certain mode in which you just enjoy a film without expecting them to be live-changing events.

Stop reading reviews, and stop watching clips, and stay off the spoiler threads. Go see Godzilla.

The downside of good reviews is that it hypes people up like the movie is the second coming.

It's great, but settle down. It's still just a movie. :oldrazz:

This right here :D!!

For me, if it's a movie I want to see, I'm going to see it; AMS 2, X:DOFP, 22 Jump Street, Guardians of the Galaxy, etc...

The only time I let reviews dictate which movies I'll see are the ones I'm on the fence about.

For example, I'm on the fence about Godzilla. But reviews so far have me swayed to watch the film...maybe not opening weekend. But I'll most likely be there at some point.

I am curious Danoyse and you may have answered this before, if so I apologise, but were would rate DOFP in terms of the X-films in general? Is it the best, 2nd best?

I'd need to see it again before I can seriously rank them...but it's on par with X2 and First Class. It's basically a sequel to both combined into one.

Buy a DOFP movie ticket when you watch Godzilla :oldrazz:

I agree, DOFP is in the same class X2 and FC.

If I had to rank them NOW after sitting on it and letting it stew for a few days, I would put DOFP a small notch under X2.

Keep in mind I MUST see this again to make a final decision. My personal ranking as of now would be

X2
DOFP
The Wolverine ( I love Jackman Wolvie way too much to not put this here lol)
X1 (can't beat those damn nostalgic feelings!)
First Class

I think this is a much better film than First Class because we get everything that made that film great and much more! Fassbender and Lawrence, Hoult, Mcavoy, mixed in with Jackman! this aspect really is compelling and never boring. We get a cool X-men team in the future, we get to explore history with an authentic look and feel, and theres some seriously tight, well placed humor in the 70's.

There are too many things I adore about X2 that appeal to me personally, so thats why I would put it above DOFP. Id be absolutely willing to give it a tie though, because theres so many things I love about both. Many fans will put DOFP on the top without question, it deserves it! It comes down to personal preference at this point since X2 and DOFP are both equally amazing pieces of work.

Nothing quite beats the White House scene at the end of X2 for me, one of the BEST scenes in marvel movie history IMO. Thats as Complete as the X-men have ever gotten! United after the loss of Jean... the emotion in that scene is just overwhelming for me. After 11 years I still get choked up. Perfectly filmed, perfect music, I don't know what else to say about it lol.

I think you're my new best friend. Not just for saying all that about X2 but also for having the guts to put FC so low. :hrt:

*I'm not sure I'm ready for X2's "best X-men movie" title to be usurped by DOFP. I just am not.

My current ranking would probably be

X2/DOFP
X-Men/First Class
The Wolverine

haha.. I can't pick anything apparently.

Maybe my love for X2 is based on nostalgia... cause when I really think about it, DoFP has the series best action, best humor, best character interactions, best use of characters, biggest scale, highest stakes, and just a really tight almost perfect cut (there's no 10 minute cerebro scenes like in X2's third act).

Yet I can't yet place it above X2... I just love that film too much. It means the world to me. It's my Star Wars... My Indiana Jones.

Yea... not quite yet. for me. I loved FC when I first watched it, I jumped the gun in thinking "oh wow this is the best x-men movie so far!" Im not going to do that with DOFP, so I've got to give it time! FC is a very novel film, and it got the job done, its entertaining, Fassbender and Mcavoy are pitch perfect... but it no way would it knock X2 off the hill.

DOFP will top X2 for MANY people, but not everyone. It might for me, but I have to wait until I see it a few more times. We will see how DOFP stands the test of time!

But X-Men Apocalypse? Id say you can kiss X2 goodbye...

The potential there is mind glowingly astounding as long as it isn't squandered ala X3. (which i don't see happening at this point, it will at least be a GOOD movie in the end!)

Its very hard to rank these things, they are all so damn good. As I mentioned it REALLY just comes down to personal preference lol. Ties will happen. Each film has pros and cons that really balance each other out, so its hard to rank them individually.

DOFP has time travel element, a future distopia, SENTINELS! Quicksilver! and more but ..spoilers! lol

X2 has the Nightcrawler! Mansion raid, Jeans Death, X-Jet dogfight, Wolverine vs Deathstryke! Dat Last Whitehouse scene!

:wall: so. friggin. GOOD!

I can't even contain my excitement for that film after seeing DoFP... Just the character roster, know how they handled thing in this film, knowing how they seem to plan on handling things in the future. My expectations are kinda through the roof. :csad:

Totally! Basically, if Apocalypse is as good, then just the fact that it has Cyclops, Jean and Storm will easily make it my fave in the series. :wow:

It's all about preference.

Oh, it's ridiculous. Apocalypse cannot get here soon enough.

It's actually killing me that I can't even see DOFP again for another week.
