UFC and MMA are fads that will fade like acid wash jeans!

Sounds like someone didn't like their P.E. class back in high school.

We didn't wrassle, MMA fight each other, or drive a car in a circle for 5 hours so PE was fine! There is a difference between high school wrestling and tv wrasslin'. I played football in high school for two years and quit because they take the fun out of it when a championship matters but in junior high we played dodgeball, wiffle ball, hand ball, soccer...it was fun.

HAHA umk.

We should all fight because of the honor. People in Afghanistan think it's honorable to kill their daughters if they believe that they have brought dishonor upon their family. Everyone goes and watches it. It's a spectator event. There are a lot of problems with honor.

You jump to conclusions too much and use poor examples for your arguments. Afghanistan? Really? Honor killings have absolutely nothing to do with two grown men wanting to test their martial arts disciplines in honorable combat.

whats gonna happen to UFC and MMA as a whole is what always does when they go after the 20 something target market that have no personal connection, no opinions of their own. They are like willows in the wind, they bend to whatever is currently popular, so they will move on to the next fad.... as I said, they cannot form their own opinions on anything!.......

it will happen....happened to Wrestling which was so hot from 96-2001 that every network wanted wrestling, every kid had Austin 3:16 shirts..that faded...............happening now since kids latched onto the Poker craze...every Network has some sort of poker show, stories and news pieces about kids having "poker parties"...starting to fade......................Having a young audience is more of a curse than a blessing, judging by history.

Just a year or two ago UFC was averaging 60,000 buys....................now that its a fad, everything is good...but not if...................but when all the casual fans move onto something else? ! ..........................will MMA be able to survive since basically MMA is just UFC...all the IFLs. this MMA fad has been around for a little over 20 years. BIG DEAL! doesnt have the history of a Boxing, thats been around for over 100 years :wow:and can survive anything. When will the popularity end? Will anyone besides the hardcore fans be around in a couple years?

Classic case of man getting bullied by MMA fighter. Just an educational guess though.

I wasn't trying to sway you. I just don't like when people say they don't understand something that's obvious to understand when they actually mean they don't like it. But you're more sincere about not understand the appeal of fighting.

I just don't understand the appeal. The only thing I will roid make fun of is tv wrestling and NASCAR. Those two things are joke sports and I wouldn't even call either of those sports.

How do you know they aren't doing it for fame or money? Most of these guys are gone in 2-3 years because someone younger and better comes along. It's a skill sport. It isn't a competition of honor. There is nothing honorable about it. It's just a show case of your skills and talent.

It's a sport and it's honorable. I can't help that you've never heard of honorable combat.

Hand to hand combat is considered the most honorable way to engage in battle because it requires combatants to come face to face and to depend on their individual skill and talents.

If MMA bothers you that's cool but don't take shots at people who like it by saying crap like "it's barbaric and I can't see why anyone would like it". That's borderline flamebait and you know it.

It is barbaric. It's barbaric that people pay hundreds of dollars to watch a brutal fight and bet money on the hopes that their guy beats the **** out of the other guy. People have even died in the boxing ring.

There is a difference between honorable combat and a spectator sport. MMA is fine as a sport, just quit trying to put it up on a pedestal like it is some noble test of the gods brought down from the clouds of Olympus and given to man. It's a spectator sport now. It may have been something different 500 years ago. There is nothing noble and honorable about MMA or really any sport for that matter. It's just a sport. Even the definition of a sport does not imply any honor. And, of course one of my previous posts shows that there are problems with 'honor'. If it's honorable to beat the **** out of someone within an inch of their life then you can have that honor. I don't want anything to do with it and I don't understand how that is honorable.

But...to each their own. You love MMA that's great. I don't understand the appeal. The end.

Barbaric is such an overused term. There is nothing about MMA or mostly anything in the Western world that is barbaric.

Shame on all you MMA fans for taking part in this troll thread.

So much lose in here, I think I need to shower now.

They need to include chess boxing in MMA or UFC or whatever the hell it's currently called. Ditch the boxing parts, but UFC fighters play chess in between rounds.

Badass?

lol.

First I was just going to comment about how the OP must have gotten over nerd-raging about DC Comics, but then I skipped to page 3 and read some of chaseter's posts. And yes, folks, then I lol'd. :D

Justin Bieber? Twilight? The Chelsea Handler Show?

I have succeeded.

Also, DC sucks.

Don't make me honor fight you for Marvel's honor.

so people who like to read about men in tights beating each other up have issue with actual people beating each other up?

wha?

you really dont understand mma at all chaseter since you obviously just say it is a bunch of bums punching each other in the face but in an arena instead of the street

it takes years of skill and dedication to hone up to several disciplines

Boxing
Wrestling
Brazilian Jujitsu
Kick Boxing
Judo
Karate
etc.

take tons of skill, technique, patience to pull off such moves these world class athletes do so i am guessing you hate boxing a well

if you are unwilling to listen to someone SIMPLY because YOU don't like them personally and they have a valid point

you are an a-hole

Justin Bieber? Twilight? The Chelsea Handler Show?

Atrocious. Turrible turrible. Not barbaric though. There's nothing hardcore about those you listed.

Hi. Reality check: the martial arts have been around for thousands of years. As long as people are interested in the martial arts, there will be a market for mixed fighting.
