Can someone please tell me how these two are related, because I heard they would be.
What was up with the "Watcher" warning the FF that certain doom was coming, but first a herald had to be picked? What happened after Rick Jones was discovered in his backyard?

And finally. Why should we care at all about the events of Ultimate Origins now that a lot of the characters are dead?

The simple answer is: Jeph Loeb doesnt give a rats ass about anyone else's work but his own. He probably didnt even read Ultimate Origins much less coordinate with Bendis to make sure everything made sense. There's no connection between the two man.

SURE they're related. Ult Origins was the preemptive money grab while they're was anticipation for Ultimatum, while Ultimatum itself is the main money grab.
See, clearly related.
Oh, what, you meant story-line wise? No, they're completely unrelated.
Who says that Marvel isn't above lying just to sell books eh?

well watcher appeared in one panel of Ultimatum with the Hulk

I am very upset with
them killing Peter Parker.
It almost feels like a betrayal, and everything that came before in previous ultimate titles was worthless.
Its one thing to really shake things up and make stuff happen, but its another thing to
kill off major characters, even if its an Ultimate Universe.

i agree...thew death of him suprised me....havent enjoyed this at all...in fact the ultimate universe is kinda weak.

hail the 616!!

Yeah, I don't think anyone is going to care about the Ultimate Universe again until Loeb is done screwing things up and Millar starts writing Ultimate Avengers again.

I doubt Peter is dead. Bendis said that the reboot of USM will hold some surprises, especially when it comes to Peter.

The only redemption I can think of for Origins and to a lesser extent Ultimatum (because there isnt much hope for redemption of Ultimatum), is for Rick Jones to suddenly appear and be the big take down of Magneto. Otherwise, aside from tying together the origins of many ultimate characters, what was the point in the whole FF warning/Watcher/Rick Jones shiny gold boy thing?

I haven't been reading it at all,
but were they setting up that peter felt like he had to fake his death at all? Maybe even in past Spider-man issues? Maybe Fury pressuring him even more about being owned by the Government know that he is 18?
Because then I can see him not really being dead, faking his death to spare his family and friends.

But really, Now everyone in the Ultimate Universe knows. Jameson knows, Robby knows, Flash knows, everyone. How can they bounce back from that?

You know what weirded me out, ultimate origins showed the banner killed pete's folks and fury helped cover it up. Then they have some of the last USM and he's fighting the hulk, but they left out the connection entirely. I was really let down with that dropped ball.

well Ultimate Orgins revealed what Brtuce Banner/Hulk meant when he said "it's all conected" and why Nick Fury said at the end of Ultimate power with his imprisonment. Mutants were created in an attempt to create supersoldiers, Nick Fury is a super soilder/ultimate Issaih Bradely, Franklin Richards, Bruce Banner, Hank Pym, and Richard Parker attempted to create the next captian america using Nick Fury's blood which resulted in the creation of the Hulk and the death of Peter's parents.

also it help explain why Wolverine saved Nick Fury's life in the Gulf war
like other said that they could have just been injured

I'm suprised that BMB didn't have Bruce Banner and Spidey(through some way revealing he is Peter Parker) talk about the Super Soldier experiments or even Nick Fury talk about it in War of the Symbiotes saga. Ultimatum on the other hand is a terrible disgrace. 616 has it moments but Ultimate universe scored more new readers.

Seems like everyone hates the Ultimate crossovers...
i personally like USM alot.. because of Bendis... but havent been reading the Ultimatum arc because i went to ASM for awhile... Guess im not picking up Ultimatum or Ult Origins afterall...

Ultimate Origins was a good read, Ultimatum is just plain crap though. Jeph Loeb is just a hack writer who only scores sales due to being teamed with great artists.

I was peering through the "Marvel Reading Chronology 2009", and noticed they including stuff like 2099, Marvel Knights... and didnt include any Ultimate books...
