Anyone who has seen the new solicits has seen the debut of Ultimate Ronin..c'mon you have got to be kidding me. Ulitmaizing a character thats what, a year old? year and a bit? thats riduclous..whats worse is how many fans are looking forward to this...did I wake up in bizzarro world or something?

Ultimate Spiderman used to be the best spiderman title on the shelves.

Ultimizing characters holds no restriction on how long their legacy is.

Maybe they'll make Ronin interesting for once.

Well excuse me if I'm wrong, but wasn't the Ultimate line originally intended to reimagine the current Marvel Universe starting from the beginning? How can you do that by throwing in characters who shouldn't really be around yet, technically?

I doubt they had the restriction of following the 616 timeline. The starting point was using these characters as if they had begun in current times and then anything goes.

None of the other Ultimate titles has been faithful to the 616 timeline so I don't know if this was a specific expectation you had for Ultimate Spider Man.

Another point I see as incorrect in this thread is saying that the Spidey title is the only one that's revamping characters. All the other titles have done it, too. Ult. FF recently introduced Ultimate versions of Thanos and Ronan just to give an example.

With all that said, I agree with the complaints on how cheap and ridiculous this is. Maybe if Bendis wasn't introducing the character on two different titles at the time people wouldn't be so outraged. And using the same "mysterious character" gimmick doesn't help matters either.

I didn't mean that USM was the only title to introduce Ultimized characters, I should have rephrased. USM gets characters it has no business getting: Omega Red and Deadpool for instance. I would have much prefered to see those 2 show up in UXM. That's al I meant.

well surely a reimagining would also mean that some characters would exist before others...

no one batted an eyelid when ultimate spidey came along before ultimate fantastic four, ultimate x-men and ultimate captain america

why the beef with ultimate ronin, I mean really, who cares?

judge the story by the story, not because it's based on a character that hasn't been around for a while.

Eh, there's nothing to forgive, really; it's ok. It's not the first time I've run into people writing one thing and meaning another in the Hype. It just seemed kind of odd. For all I know you could have only been reading USM and thus your comment, that's why I gave the UFF example. It's cool.
