Isn't it a bit ironic that Marvel created the Ultimate Universe in order to give a more realistic, current world with superheroes in it. But lately 616 marvel has been A HELL OF ALOT more realistic than Ultimate is. If anything, Ultimate now resembles the old days of comics, and 616 is basically the world we live in but with superheroes. I mean they did create the Ultimate universe for that purpose right?

Since when do people die and come back in the real world, or reality warping mutants go crazy, or Superheroes/people fight in combat over petty acts of Congress (which never get unanimously voted in over night...THAT was incredibly ill researched).

I thought they came up with Ultimate to give a fresh modern take on classic characters, without the cluttered history.

they did. it had nothing to do with making a more realistic universe.

exactly and it was to make old characters more accessible to new fans.

isn't it ironic how the point of this thread is completely lost now that that's been pointed out? :hyper:

my belief was that they started USM as a way to modernize Spidey's origins in an attempt to bring in new readers who might be interested after watching the Spider-Man movie

lo and behold, here i am today

i do see the irony there

I see the irony....It's also Ironic that the Ultimate Universe was created to be continuity free for new readers to be able to come in without nowing the histories and stuff, but If someone started on the arc of Ultimate Spider-man that just started they would be lost as hell.

They were reffering to continuity all over the place, the Kitty Relationship, the osbourne thing, Kingpin, the movie, DD, Shang Chi, Jameson and the Bugle......

this is true about almost all comics
it's nearly impossible to keep a comic going if you don't build off previous arcs
