I also suspect Giant Man bites the dust in Ultimatum # 3 because so far the people on the variant have died each time... so we'll see if that holds true on issue 3 or if it was a coincidence.
Oh please please please let this be true. I actually LIKED what they were doing with Giant Man in Ultimates 1 and 2, but then they gave him that ******ed yellowjacket persona.

Yes it would. So sick of stupid rehashes. Why do exactly the same thing as the main universe. Different takes used to be the point of having a different universe.
I feel you. I just recently read The Ultimates 1 & 2 and they are fantastic. Then I researched Ultimates 3 and Ultimatum and they sound like (and based upon what I've read they are) total disasters. My advice would be to wait for Mark Millar's return on Ultimate Avengers.
OT CaptainClown: I love your avatar. Add a Mortal Kombat villain and it will be perfect!
Back on topic:
I also hope Ultimate Ghost Rider's origin is something unique. I'd like the Ultimate universe to be as different as possible from "Marvel Proper" (which is what Joe Q wants the 616 to be known as) but still focus on the realism angle that has made it so great. I'm very excited to see Ghost Rider and Punisher ultimatized. I'm hoping that they can team up with Wolverine to create an Ultimate version of Hearts of Darkness!
Okay, just finished reading my advance copy of Ultimatum #3. All I'll say is it's just as terrible as #1 & 2. Finch also doesn't seem to be trying as hard on the art as he used to.
So, for those of you who aren't picking up the issues (and I beg you not to, let's all please convince Marvel to never use Loeb again) but are interested vaguely in what's going on, here's a list of who died this issue and how:
These are spoilers in the truest sense of the word. You've been warned.
First off, the following people were confirmed as dead:
-Dazzler, beast, nightcrawler (via the tidal wave)
-The "academy of tomorrow"'s Emma frost, sunspot, cannonball, polaris (tidal wave again I think), though Havoc may have survived
-Longshot, forge, detonator, hardrive were caught and killed in the savage land
-a whole ton of madroxes were killed cuz magneto's forcing them to be suicide bombers all over the world (though there are still more alive of course)
-Seeing that the Blob has eaten Jan's guts Hank Pym (as a giant) picks up blob (without any explanation as to how he's able to do that, I thought that was supposed to be really hard but maybe that's only the 616 blob) and bites his head off and spits it out.
-Thor sacrifices himself in the land of the dead so that Cap can come back. So Thor's dead
-Then, as people were predicting, Hank dies. Basically he sacrifices himself to get Jan's body back to the Treskellion where he asks Stark to use something he'd been working on called "the Jocasta iniativie" or something like that. But a bunch of suicide bombing madroxes were about to blow up the Triskellion so to make sure Jan is safe Hank took them all on himself (giant form) and walked off, kablooie.
By the last frame it looks like the heroes finally have their crap together and are ready to actually do something useful.
Magneto still has and is wantonly using Mjolnir.
In conclusion, Loeb is still completely ruining the Ultimate MU. I must confess to having been stupid enough to buy the first two issues. I won't be buying anything else written Loeb. EVER AGAIN.

I used to think that maybe Loeb's writing slipped because of Sam's death, but now I'm not sure, he seems to lost all sense of using a coheisive narratvie structure. I'm only reading Ultimatum for the ramifications it will have in the Ultimate Universe.
I would, but I've just been thinking (after posting these spoilers today) that if my editor finds out I've been posting this stuff I might not get these pre-release copies to review any more. So posting a whole page would definitely be a big no no. But I'm sure on Wednesday somebody'll post it.
Comes out wednesday. I get advanced copies of certain marvel issues. Comes out same day as Ult 3, I'm not saying Loeb stole the idea, just that I doubt it was originally his cuz he can't seem to come up with any good ideas at all these days.
