Ultimatum Begins!

And if that ain't reason enough to kill yourself, I don't know what is.

The truth is I could give two sh** about Ultimate Nightcrawler (his death is also pretty easy to retcon). Ultimate Dazzler, on the other hand, was a character I thought could actually be interesting. They were expanding her powers, which was nice, and they also gave her an interesting hook; rebel girl with tons of tattoos whose bangin' the perfect boyscout Angel. Cool idea, now totally lost.

Remember when Ultimate Spider-Man was getting published, and Ultimate X-Men soon followed?

Things were so good back then.

Even the Ultimate FF book started out strong... then it kinda whimpered and fizzled out. At least for me. :(

I remember reading Ultimate Spider-Man every month and thinking "Man, this Bendis guy is good! I sure hope he goes places."

Now he has, and I wish to God he'd just leave.

Well, I still the Ultimate Spider-Man book. *shrugs* It is still pretty consistantly good.

Ultimate Spider-Man #1, which was handed out for free when I saw Spider-Man 1 at the movies, is what got me into comics. I collected the TPB's up 'till Vol. 11, which is when my interest in Ult. Spidey began to fizzle. I thought that perhaps I just needed a little break from Bendis' writing and then come back. Thing is, 'Taking a break from Bendis' and 'Reading Marvel' are two conflicting statements.

But yeah, I was and am a big fan of the things he has done on that title, especially during Bagley's run.

Ultimate Spider-Man remains a good title. I'm glad they've confirmed it'll still be chugging along after Ultimatum is done.

wow what and issues. some crazy deaths going on. all in all i enjoyed it very much though. can't wait to see where this goes.

For those playing the home game

Jan (Wasp) appears to have been cannibalized by the Blob.

Captain America stopped breathing, only to later join Thor in a fight against an army of the undead, Thor was doing this in order to claim back the life of Valkerie. So Cap is a spirit thing right now.

Magneto snaps Xavier's neck.

Off-topic, but this is what Marvel needs to do for all their big superhero movies. Hand out accessible, contemporary comics to the audience and get them into the books.

[BLACKOUT]Wow, she can not catch a break in any universe. Seems like a silly move to me.[/BLACKOUT]

How did Xavier die? He's telekinetic. I'm not seeing how Magneto was allowed to follow through on that neck snap.

Xavier can't probe Magneto's mind cause of the helmet he wears. He purposely constructed it so Xavier couldnt read his mind and stop him.

I know what the helmet traditionally does. Also, telepathy =/= telekinesis. You read my comment too quickly. Xavier should have had the common sense to know Magneto being behind him + a speech on working to defeat him would end in some brutality. Plus, we're talking about a power of the mind. He would probably be able to stop Magneto as soon as he began to twist his head.

But because of that helmet, his powers would be useless in stopping him.

So, wait- Magneto's helmet not only guards against mental intrusion, but telekinetic attacks of any kind on his person?

I could be wrong but i dont think Xavier has telekinesis, i think he just has the ability to read minds and alter minds, but i dont think he can lift objects and stuff like that. I could be wrong but i dont ever remember him doing that.
