Ultimatum Begins!

Actually Human Torch's heat is self-sustaining. His flame would vaporize water around him.
 
Yea I figured something like that, but why the hell was he under water just holding his breath, why wouldn't he be flaming on, saving people. We'll see he could still be alive, but I really want them to follow through and kill some big names, it will really change things up.

It was just a quick cut away to him, at this point we really can't write anyone off officially, except maybe Alison Blair. I get the impression this is like Ultimate Infinity Gauntlet, and for all we know the ending could be similar.

I don't know about that either, we'll just have to wait and see on this one. They've already retconned a few deaths, so I wouldn't put a whole bunch more past them.

Isn't this supposed to be the end to the ultimate universe though? Like getting rid of it basically, so why would they retcon something they are destroying?
 
I think it's more like the "end of the Ultimate Universe as we know it".

I supported Loeb on Hulk and Ultimates 3, but I might have to hop off the bandwagon if this continues.
 
It's okay. If you supported him for Hulk and Ultimates 3, I'm sure nobody's listening to you anymore by now. :)

As far as I know Ultimates gets an ongoing after this, Ultimate X-Men may or may not continue (or be rebooted under a new Wolverine centered titled), and Ultimate Spider-Man continues as is.

Its major, but not major in the way of making the Ult Universe hugely different than the 616. Killing off characters that you would never kill off in the 616 is one of the best ways to do it. Dude how different would the Universe be if Human Torch really died, it would be a huge butterfly effect, story-wise. Killing off the citizens of Manhattan is huge, but its not gonna change things that much.

My idea was that after Ultimatum, the X-Men and the Ultimates would come together to form one big group. Maybe because so many deaths and/or because Mutants are really no different than Superhumans in the Ult Universe. This would be a good way to cancel UXM and keep them in a book consistently.

Also if Human Torch really dies maybe Spider-Man would become the new 4th member of the Fantastic Four. This would also be a good way to cancel UFF but keep them in a book consistently.

There is really no reason for Spidey to become the newest member of the FF or for the X-Men to become Ultimates, but maybe after Ultimatum there will be reasons, also this is the Ult Universe and that is a good enough reason to throw a curve ball and chage thigs up. This is just my theory and my theories are usually wrong, but I think that these ideas would be good ways to change things up in the Ult Universe.
 
They better kill Ultima Mags this time. Or seriously cripple him as Ultima Cap promised years ago.

They already have a crippled Mags in 616, he needs to stay as is. Pure badass, Fully powered, in control of his mind, and ALIVE
 
Ultima Mags gets away with mass murder (pretty soon genocide) and they're going to let him get away with it? To heck with that! America can't catch bin Laden. But Marvel can off Ultima Mags!

Well let's see..... in 616 they made his daughter into a psycho who dismantled the Avengers core AND then she was responsible for decimating the mutant population which included the her father and brother. He's now turned into a shell of the man he once was, forced to wear cheap suits to duplicate his powers, while Prof X is doing the salsa, fully powered. I thnik we should at least have 1 fully powered Mags somewhere out there. Heck, even in the movies, he's now a pansy.

Let him keep his powers until death! I don't mind having the Utimates kill their version of him, or turning him into a quadraplegic. In that universe he had it coming.
