Age of Ultron Ultron! We Would Have Words With Thee! Official Thor/Chris Hemworth Thread

I've been meaning to ask, how does everyone feel about the fact that Thor will mostly be donning his "sleeveless" look in this film as opposed to using chain mail around his arms like in previous films? I know past films have shown him going sleeveless, but he would normally don his full armor for the major fighting sequences. However, it appears as though he'll be going sleeveless for a majority of this film, with his arms only covered in full armor at Avengers tower when Ultron first attacks.

I love it, as a matter of fact I'm starting to prefer sleeveless look over the chainmail. Even more exciting is the fact that Thor seems to be without Mjolnir during a lot of scenes.

Hopefully they capitalize on Thor's bare handed super strength.

I like Thor without the sleeves just as much as with them, so I'm all good.

he looks great either way to me

Touching on this, how strong do you guys think Thor is? It is known he is the strongest and most powerful of the Asgardians excluding Odin. Yet, we have not scene any feats of physical strength besides blocking the Hulk's punch. If i recall correctly, even Volstagg was able to lift a car like nothing in a deleted scene from the first movie. Sif kicked/pushed a trailer with little effort in AOS. I am pretty sure Thor is capable of even greater feats. I just wonder why they haven't shown any lol.

I think slamming Hulk threw a wall, upper-cutting him and holding his punch is probably the most impressive show of strength you're going to get. And that is pretty impressive.

That is true. I forgot the tackle and punch. I just mean we haven't seen him ripping through or carrying things. His Iron Man gauntlet squeeze was impressive as well so I ask this a little less seriously now haha.

I'm comfortable saying Thor is almost as strong as Hulk. Hell, he may actually be *stronger*, pound for pound, its just that Hulk is about five times bigger.

That's what makes Thor so dangerous, unlike the Hulk who's only weapon in his sheer strength and straight ahead blind rage assault..
Thor has nearly the same level of strength.
Compounded this with his hammer, weather control, lightning attacks and unsurpassed battle experience he is a force to be reckoned with...
That's why I hope Ultron is shown to at least struggle somewhat when battling Thor...
Its OK to show Ultron as a deadly threat that requires a team effort to finally defeat..
Its a whole different matter to show Ultron swatting Thor aside with the same ease as other members of the team...

On another note, IF Thor is still with Jane during the events of this film, it'd be kind of funny to see on how Thor may leave Earth after the Avengers break up without telling her again.lol

I couldn't care less about Jane or any of her side kicks and I'm sure most feel the same.

It's not her character I have a problem with it Natalie Port man's terrible version.

Agreed.

Man, the second Thor film was like the ideal place to switch Jane with Sif as Thor's leading lady as well.

Okay, well anyways...I'm still holding out for some hope that THIS FILM may finally give me my ideal scenario of actually seeing Thor save some civilians/people instead of always seeing him used as the "big gun".

I mean would it be too hard to see him swapping down from the sky and grabbing people out of arms way (flying vehicles, falling debris, etc)?

Explosion throws cars into the air - as he throws Mjolnir at one, Thor lands in front of another and catches it just before it plows into a crowd of people. He swings 'his' car like a bat, smashing an incoming Ultron drone - As he jumps up and away (is he flying???) Mjolnir slams into another car, driving it into the ground metres away from a very relieved family.

Mjolnir rises up from the car, then shoots upwards towards an already-hovering *gasp* Thor who's already surrounded by lightning *gasp*.

As Mjolnir gets to him, he grabs the hammer and unleashes the fury through Mjolnir at Ultron, while IM is hitting Ultron with a unibeam from the opposite direction.

:woo:That should be the next trailer...

Yes, but then they should show Ultron getting up from it, worn out, but physically essentially unscathed. We need a villain who is "physically" too much. The MCU has existed for 7 years. We need someone who is too powerful for our most powerful heroes.

This will never be done in the MCU lol, they're more plain jane in their approach to action. But man wouldn't that be badass to see, it would blow my mind.

If anyone gets action of this magnitute it would be Hulk or someone new. Marvel seems content with showcasing Thor as a hammer swinging viking.

It doesn't matter because this definitely won't happen. Thor will never be portrayed as badass as this in the MCU.

I feel like Marvel is kind of afraid to show Thor being powerful because it seems like they want to always place some type of "limitation" on powerful heroes.

I mean Hulk is allowed to be strong, but that's only because Hulk isn't a reliable ally/factor in the long run.

Thor on the other hand is, so they want to make sure that he's not too powerful otherwise they probably think that it'd be hard to create obstacles for him.

Didn't Thor flip a car in the first movie or are you talking about feats of strength without Mjolnir?

I'm definitely curious to see if Thor is going to hold some restraint on himself when taking on Human villains. I don't envy any Hydra agent that would have to confront him.

Between getting smashed by the Hulk or getting bashed by Thor's hammer..yikes.lol

In that photo of Thor and CA, I can imagine them being surrounded by Hydra goons coming from all sides and CA suggesting to Thor he hit the shield again, maybe not with the effort he did the first time, but it'll knock the goons down/out :D

Agreed with BigThor - that other scene will never happen.
Agreed with jaqua99 - my idea is that the Avengers would know by this point know it wouldn't seriously damage Ultron, but since Ultron developed a countermeasure to Vision's phasing, they're distracting/roughing him up so he is caught off guard when Vision comes at him again.

Btw, after the Thor/IM shot, Ultron would be properly stunned/punch drunk - And before he's recovered Hulk comes roaring from the top of a building and smashes him right into Vision's waiting phased arms :D

It will be intriguing how they show Thor and Hulk take them on, obviously they are not going to have human blood cos that would increase the rating but realistically if Thor and Hulk came anywhere near close to hitting humans full strength they would be pulverised.

I'm hoping that scene is just Cap, Thor, and Hawkeye against the Hydra Unit

Steve, Clint and Thor should be buds, I wanna see some bonding!

plus, Hulk fighting Hydra goons is just overkill, I mean, so is Thor, but he has more restraint, not to mention more panache

Pretty sure this snowy woods scene is the [BLACKOUT]pre-credits[/BLACKOUT] so they will be all there. Besides in the trailer we saw Banner and IM in the snow, and we've seen Widow in the snow in a official image.
