Unbreakable 2?
Shyamalan mulling comic sequel.
by Orlando Parfitt, IGN UK

UK, September 24, 2008 - Following his recent woes with critics and audiences alike, it's no surprise to hear M. Night Shyamalan is considering revisiting one of his more acclaimed efforts.

He told MTV News that he's thinking about a sequel to possibly his best film, 2000's Unbreakable. The enigmatic helmer said: "I tell you I get asked about it all the time, so it's not (an idea) I ever forget... I genuinely just asked this question the other day - should I make 'Unbreakable 2'?"

Apparently the film was always meant to be part of a trilogy, but bad initial reviews and audience reaction put Shymalan off. He elaborated: "I made the mistake of getting caught up in the hype of the immediate reaction of the movie, which, experience has shown me, is not accurate to any of my movies."

"And If I had been more confident and said 'I believe in that movie, I love that movie, and I should just go start writing the second one,' that would've been the right move. I've still been thinking about it a lot and wonder if it's too late."

He continued: "I do love the [comic book movie] genre, I just wanna make sure that I'm able to express who I am.... I don't want to get so lost in the subject that I have to neuter everything that's me in it, so maybe Unbreakable is the comic book thing I should do - I keep coming back to that."

Yeah, I read about it just thet other day :woot:--I liked the first one but I wouldn't even let Shyamalan handle garbage these days..

i liked unbreakable but think the opportunity for a sequel has passed .

Unbreakable is an amazing film, but maybe it should just stay as a solo film.

Yeah, one of my fave superhero movies :woot:

M.Night's best film IMO, a superb movie, and a sequel would have been great a few years ago, but i dont trust in his talent anymore, so its quite likely he would ruin it.

Unbreakable should stay as just the one movie, we don't need to see where the character goes next because it will ultimately disappoint. My guess is it would be like the Matrix sequels.

Agreed. The way it ended was fantastic. It's one of the two films from Night that I actually like. A sequel would just ruin what was.

I'd see it, but what would the sequel entail? Mr. Glass's revenge against David and his family? Feels like we've seen that before. UNBREAKABLE, we hadn't seen. Not like that.

I'll go see it, 'cause I'm weak. I have a feeling it's going to get made. As hot as comic book movies are right now, and something tells me he might need the extra dough.

The first was great, brilliant character build ups awesome music and well directed. Why muddy your boots and the greatness of the first film by trying to make a better second

Given Shyamalan's recent run of crap films even if he did revisit this great movie he'd probably turn this good movie into a stinker of a sequel.

Unbreakable is brilliant. But there's no way I'd want a sequel, in 2003 yes but not now. Unless someone aside from M. Night, like Alex Proyas where to take over, then I wouldn't mind.

dammit and I don't have my dvd at hand--now I feel like watching that movie again

Honestly .. I would see "UNBREAKABLE 2". Mainly due to enjoying the original very much, and of course wanting to know where Shyamalan would take the story.

I would see a sequal just because I enjoyed the first one very much.

^If it gets made, I would see it, i loved the first one so much, but i very much doubt it could improve on the first movie.

I love Unbreakable, but I don't think a sequel to it would really work. Plus, I'm sick of Bruce Willis.

I don't see the point to actually make a sequel, but if it were to happen, I'd see it.

He supports the Bush Administration. That's all it takes for me to dislike someone.

I don't think he'd seek revenge, since it played out exactly like he wanted. However, I think it would be interesting if David kept going to him for guidance on what to do next, while Mr. Glass was in prison. Not much of a plot, but it would just be an interesting scene I could see in my mind.

I thought he hates the current administration? Didn't he go off on a rant at a reporter or something?

Found it. Will you watch his movies now?

Bruce Willis said:
"I'm sick of answering this [expletive] question," he says. "I'm a Republican only as far as I want a smaller government, I want less government intrusion. I want them to stop [expletive] on my money and your money and tax dollars that we give 50 percent of... every year. I want them to be fiscally responsible and I want these [expletive] lobbyists out of Washington. Do that and I'll say I'm a Republican... I hate the government, OK? I'm a-political. Write that down. I'm not a Republican."
