This **** is trippier than MGS2.

[blackout]Is it the water? Nate drank the water. Sully isn't dead, there are no fire people. The water contains the same drug that Talbot keeps shooting people with, right?[/blackout]

I WAS RIGHT!!!! YAAAAAAAAY!!!! :woot:

Haha. Hope to get your final thoughts on the game as a whole Matt.

I can't wait to see how happy, sad, relieved, distraught, satisfied, and/or upset Matt will be once he's done. :hehe:

Beat it. Just in time for Skyrim! I LOVED the ending. It was sweet without compromising the game's humor sense of style. The final boss fight was great. I never really cared for the Lazaravich fight so I really enjoyed the [blackout]Talbot[/blackout] fight which felt a lot more like a call back to the fight against Navarro in the original Uncharted. It was really brutal and gritty.

I swear, every time I think that this series can't top itself anymore, it finds away. This is easily the best Uncharted yet. Not just for action pieces but also for character development. Nate and Sully's story is told really well, as is the subtle and understated love story between Nate and Elena.

This may be scripted and not nearly as vast as Skyrim but I have a hard time seeing how anything tops this for game of the year. No other game is as pure fun as this series (and isn't that what gaming is all about?). I cannot think of another video game that has actually got my adrenaline pumping. Uncharted does just that. GOTY, for sure.

10/10

Ask and you shall receive. :woot:

Haha, the only thing that I'm distraught about is that it is over! I loved the ending. Maybe it is because I am a big sap, but it brought a tear to my eye. Uncharted is known for it's massive set pieces, but I think it's real charm is in it's characters. The banter throughout the game really makes you feel for them and get to know them. I feel attached to Nate, Sully and Elena. The story may not be as deep as a series like MGS and it may not be as vast as The Elder Scrolls....but there is something very special about this franchise that goes beyond the set pieces.

Uncharted 2 came out in 2009. Think that there is any chance that we will get a teaser for Uncharted 4 at the VGA? :funny:

Linear gameplay is sorely underrated in this day and age. Telling one story as well as the Uncharted series tells theirs is every bit as impressive as telling a bunch of stories that branch off at different points or a bunch of smaller side stories alongside the main one. The latter two are just more novel because it's a new way to do things that's unique to games (unless you count Choose Your Own Adventure novels).

I couldn't agree more. Uncharted doesn't try to be anything it isn't. The world isn't vast and open. The plot is linear. It's not even particularly groundbreaking (this is essentially the same game play as Tomb Raider, way back on PS1).

What it is, is a nonstop thrill ride that really sucks the player in and never lets up. It does it not only through action but through characters. Now that everything is about customization and choosing your own path, I sorely wish more games were like Uncharted.

The gameplay is also considerably tighter than Tomb Raider, although I agree that it is basically the same gameplay model. Naughty Dog knows how to make that style of gameplay work a hell of a lot better than any Tomb Raider developer has, though. I also appreciate that they try new things with every game, be it the train level in U2 or the roiling seas and plane stuff in U3.

I felt the exact same way. I kinda rushed through the game, but not because I was dying to get it over with, but because I just wanted to find out what happened next. I was so eager to see where the characters went because I love them so much and really feel like they stand out more than most other characters in games do. And I too think that there is just a certain kind of charm to the characters that adds to the experience as a whole. It really draws you in, both in terms of character development and presentation, and that's something that even the best games have a problem with sometimes.

I remember reading something like this around the time the first game came out that basically said that Uncharted doesn't bring anything new gameplay wise, but instead takes parts of other games and puts them together in a way that makes it great. It's almost like they don't do anything new or innovative, but rather nearly perfects what's already there.

But with U2 and U3, they have definitely tried to add new things to turn it up a notch. They've shown that even though people keep saying their last game was the best, they want to make the next one even better, and so far they've been doing just that.

I disagree that this is the same gameplay as Tomb Raider. UC is heavily an action game, whereas Tomb Raider is more about exploration and puzzles. I can understand the comparisions to the series in terms with what the protagonists are doing but the series are so different in so many ways with the gameplay being one of them

Yeah, I remember hearing the Uncharted 2 vs Mass Effect 2 arguments, and I always sided with Uncharted because I never played ME. But after finally playing it a few months ago, I started to understand why people felt it was better. But then I went back to play Uncharted, I started to remember what I loved about it so much. Even though Mass Effect is the type of game I want to play everytime, in terms of lengthy, open world games, there's something about Uncharted that makes it not only hold up its own, but also succeed whatever limitations are placed on it by the game style.

I think it's the same model at a basic level. Gunplay plus platforming. They do it in different ways and with different proportions, though. TR has definitely never achieved Uncharted's excellency with shooting mechanics, but all the games did include some shooting.

I love the whole Mass Effect franchise, don't get me wrong. I'm just saying that its complexity doesn't necessarily make it intrinsically better than Uncharted. There's room for true excellence in both styles of games. Uncharted does different things, but it does them just as well as Mass Effect does what it does.

Yeah, at the basics, they are the same. A treasure hunter goes out to look for treasure and has to solve puzzles and jump across platforms as they race against other explorers to find some treasure. But of course, TR was more about puzzles and platforming, whereas Uncharted is more about action and gunplay.

But it is ironic to see that , from the looks of the demo from the TR reboot, they seem to be taking a page from Uncharted, as well as some other games, which I honestly think is a great thing and will make the new game the best Tomb Raider game ever.

Is anyone else having trouble connecting to the muliplayer today? I've tried like ten times and it keeps getting an error.

I feel so bored i need some more uncharted in my life Will have to wait till Golden Abyss for some more ugh...

Don't remind me of the Uncharted game I won't be able to play. :csad:

Just spent about an hour playing one co-op arena. I normally don't like MP, but it was kind of fun. I guess because its easier to kill AI than actual players who run around back and forth. Plus, its easier to level up. :oldrazz:

So all through out the online beta and the early access Subway event, [BLACKOUT]Cutter[/BLACKOUT] was on the villain side. But I just noticed that he has been switched to the hero side in the official release. That's really cool how they kept up the act of him being a bad guy.

Not just that Squirrel, but if you went into MP on the final game BEFORE playing any Campaign, he was still on the villains side. I thought that was an awesome touch :P

I do love that the next Uncharted game is like 100 days away :)

What's even more awesome is that Bend look like they're taking this one back to a smaller-scale, exploration-based adventure more in line with Drake's Fortune, which is awesome.

Damn!
They deserve it. More power and success to them, more Uncharted to us

If anyone wants to play multiplayer with me at some point, just add me on the PSN network.

Hit me up on The_Amazing_Lee

:)
