Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception - Part 1

IGN has a new play through of the Desert Demo. It is amazing. I was going to post it, but it has a few curse words. Go watch it!

The level of detail in the level is absolutely stunning! I remember looking at UC2 and the footage from that game was absolutely stunning for it's time. So it's amazing just how much technology has changed within the past couple of years. The difference between UC2 and UC3 is like night and day, IMO. Thanks for the heads up Kal!

javi, do you mean videos of your games? I believe if you go to community it saves videos of things like your plunder games and you can free roam your camera during them or fast forward and rewind.

Yeah, they have really made the Cinema mode a lot better. When you finish recording your match, you can either upload it directly to Youtube, Facebook, or to your HDD. Pretty cool.

I won two rounds of free for all today. I think I'm beginning to like this mode.

I was away for a while and so I'm confused, is there a beta going around or something? I thought it ended months ago.

It did. This is something new. You get access to it by buying a 30oz drink at Subway with an Uncharted 3 multiplayer code on the cup. You then enter the code at adventur.subway.com for a download code

I feel like when I'm doing fisticuffs, I hit a guy twice and he doesn't go down. Meanwhile, I get one hit and I'm dead. Am I missing something?

No. I punched a guy (once), he punched me (once), I punched him (twice), no death, he punched me (twice), and I died.

And then sometimes we kill each other. I don't know if it's my connection, or if the game just has bad lag. I had similar issues in U2's online play.

just beat Uncharted 1. 6 hours and 34 minutes. Thats 2 hours less than my last time. Its amazing to see just how much the series has evolved. I thought the graphics were near perfect back in 2007 but seeing what UC2 could do and now UC3, they dont look as impressive. Ill take a break now and try UC2 Friday or Saturday

The Squirrel, the melee in this game has a lot of problems and it's severely unbalanced and glitchy. Even IGN's Greg Miller agrees.

Yeah, looking back at the first one, it looked very cartoony and almost makes me think of Crash Bandicoot every time I see Drake's face from that one.

This may sound weird, but here is why I like Uncharted games so much.

When I play Uncharted, I don't feel like I'm playing a game, so much as that I am enabling and slightly moving along characters in an awesome action-adventure movie. Like it's an animated action movie and I am directing the characters not so much as "playing" it but it's not some lame-ass cut scene extravaganza. The cinematic events of the gameplay and the way they meld so well with the gameplay was fantastic, like the roof break-in scene from early in the second game.

Yeah, I think that's what makes up most of the charm that the game has. Like I remember hearing all of the Uncharted 2 vs Mass effect 2 debates for GOTY, and after finally playing ME2, as big of a Uncharted fanboys as I am, I would say ME2 was the better game overall. But something that Uncharted does that few other games have been able to do is to make you feel the experience of the characters, because it doesn't feel like a game. It really is an experience, and I remember finishing Uncharted 2 in almost a day because I just couldn't put it down.

Agreed.

Honestly, who DOESN'T want to play a game where you actually FEEL like a Han Solo/Indy type of character.

I feel like when I'm doing fisticuffs, I hit a guy twice and he doesn't go down. Meanwhile, I get one hit and I'm dead. Am I missing something?

Do what I do: get a punch in, blind fire then punch again. 60% of the time it works everytime.

Uncharted 3 Comes to PlayStation Home

Use the social service, unlock a bonus for Drake's Deception.

Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception is less than a month away, but that doesn't make the wait any easier. Luckily, Sony feels your pain and is bringing Uncharted 3 to PlayStation Home -- or at least a taste of it.

For the next few weeks, a slightly modified version of the Yemen level from Uncharted 3 will be in PlayStation Home. Players can wander the area, chat with friends, and preorder Uncharted 3 through Amazon.com for a special Nathan Drake Home skin that comes complete with a gunplay taunt.

Still, the sweetest part of the deal won't cost you a dime. In the Uncharted 3 area is a Home version of an Uncharted level. You start it and take your avatar through a shooting gallery where you need to collect treasures and kill enemies. It's a cover-based game that's pretty similar to the gameplay of Uncharted -- if not stiffer because it's using PlayStation Home's engine and assets.

There are three waves in this gallery each with its own boss. A new wave becomes available every week leading up to launch and each plays into the game's 10 challenges. If you knock off each of these challenges, you'll start Uncharted 3's multiplayer with a level 1 Endurance booster, which decreases sprint recovery time. There are also in-Home rewards for each challenge.

I got a run through of the first wave of PlayStation Home Fortune Hunter, and while I don't think it's going to set the world on fire, it was cool to see home avatars running around playing Uncharted. There's music from the game, the level looks good, and I like the idea of unlocking content in the real game.

It could be a world full of Drakes... my God...

To me, that's where Home's strength lies. I know Sony would love to see Home become a destination where players show up and play the free games the service has -- as evident by the recently announced redesign -- but most players will compare the titles they're playing in Home to full downloads off the PlayStation Network and be disappointed. If Sony can set Home up as a service that supports big budget games, it'll bring more people in, and I'm sure some of them will stick around for unique experiences such as Scribble Shooter.

Sony wouldn't tell me when the Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception content would come to PlayStation Home, but seeing as how we're right on top of Nathan Drake's return to the console, I'd assume later this week.

Currently playing through Uncharted 2 again. Never got around to getting all the treasures in my last save file, so playing it over, i'm making that a priority.

I seriously am sucking right now got like 6 and 12 one round and like 3 and 9 the other round

Hey guys, I read a rumor that there is a bug on the beta that causes you to lose all your progress after you get to the highest level. Anyone notice anything like that?

I don't want to buy the full game and suddenly all my beta progress is gone.

It happened to some players that continued to play past the 35 level cap. A patch was just sent out recently that should address it. I reached 35 a few days ago and stopped playing and it is still at 35. Probably won't play again just in case though lol.

Just got to play through High Rise and Molten Ruins. Haven't seen the lava on Molten Ruins yet but it's a fun map. High Rise is really difficult since it's like all on scaffold and buildings under construction. High Rise is a much more vertical type map.

I've been playing more to get more money and getting silver level on some of my boosters. I don't know why but I'm not getting any of the Afterlife medals when I'm sure my grenades kill enemies after I die.
