yeah it's a shame there has never been a single movie based on a game that's been... 'good'

There's been one that was awesome that I loved. It wasn't live action, it was a CG movie. Final Fantasy VII Advent Children. Great movie that's a great companion to the game.

ah, i've always wanted to check that movie out. I saw it for like $5 on blu ray at cex. should've grabbed it when I had the chance.

I have the extended version of Advent Children, good stuff.

They need to stop prematurely announcing release dates. But that is the fault of big corporations and publishers pushing them to meet deadlines.
It is an easy way to get people to buy their system early. So of course they do it.

Yes, but it didn't hurt it last year. Now they will sell it this Christmas with the promise of UC4 soon.
by itself it sold well, but the xbone was able to finally blow it out of the water. speculation is that now, it's gonna happen again

Halo 5 should be huge in the opposite corner. But PS4 will just do better in early 2016 whenever UC4 comes out.

I wonder if the fact that Uc4 won't be released in the holiday season anymore will hinder its own potential sales, or how big it could've been.

halo 5 + rotr, iceman. mS has got two huge exclusives for the end of this year

I think UC will sell a similar amount overall to what it would have as it will have less competition. Might mean less PS4s sold overall across the combined period as holidays are a great time for moving consoles combined with a new favourite game.

we don't know what games are slated to appear spring 2016. all we know is sf5, which itself is another Ps4 console exclusive

June can be huge. It worked for TloU, it will work for Batman this year. June is the perfect time for a big release. It will have the time of the year to itself, with people desperate for something to play after the usually awesome Feb and March pass.

I'd be very surprised if a spring release hurt Uncharted sales. It's such a widely popular franchise and anticipated game, they could release it on Judgement Day and it would still sell massively.

True but selling massively doesn't mean sales aren't hurt. I'm not sure they will be hurt at all but there could be some impact. And that impact would probably be impossible to know for sure as the game is going to sell loads in any scenario.

tlou was a new IP though. although there was considerable hype behind it.

I'm not saying the move will hurt Uc4 necessarily, it's gonna blow everything out of the water regardless. but it's just that this was supposed to be a holiday title, which would mean a lot of people would get the game just for that not to mention sony would probably have special bundles for it as well, not to mention most games that are awarded goty are during the fall. all that's off the table now.

I don't know...it'll be coming out around spring break and close to summer break for kids and college students. Having big games come out around the holidays is primarily to push console sales, not necessarily for individual game sales, hence the abundance of console bundles in the fall. I don't think it will be a problem at all. I can also think of countless GotY titles that did not come out in the fall; game awards aren't like the Oscar season (though if you do have data to support that claim, I'd be genuinely interested in seeing it).

It will probably be harder to win GotY in 2016 against games that had been planned for the end of 2016 when this was planned as a 2015 title. I think it would have got it in 2015.

na I don't think there's actual evidence to support that, but it seems a lot of the big name, AAA titles do come out Q4 every year. Uc4 planned to, cod/fifa/madden always does, gta5 did - gta tried having the tradition of always releasing in october, halo 3 came out in september i believe, halo 5 is slated for Q4 this year, and probably several more.

all that doesn't really matter, but the main thing here with this delay is that there's now not an exclusive game for sony to push Ps4 with it during this holiday season (an exclusive game Q4 obviously isn't necessary, but just makes their holiday push incomplete). they didn't have one last year, and for now it seems it'll be the same again this year although i'm hoping they're gonna come out to announce something big for thanksgiving/christmas this year. and something better than a nathan drake collection.

it'll only be hard if all the games that come out in 2016 will be better than all the games that will release this year. it also depends on... who's goty award you're looking at. spike, DICE, etc.

Yeah, like I said before, I really think that has everything to do with using big games to push the console sales for the holidays as opposed publishing the games then for an award season like Hollywood does.

Agreed. I definitely see sony's sales dipping lower than they'd hope had Uncharted been released as expected. But we still have Metal Gear Solid...it might not be an exclusive anymore, but it is still synonymous with Playstation so that might help some. I highly doubt we'll hear of any thing major coming out to fill the void this fall (I was hoping Project Morpheus would be released then, but alas that is not happening). It would be damn sweet to see an Uncharted 1-3 collection this fall but I am not holding my breath.

robert cogburn is the lead director for mp in Uc4. he was always that for Uc3.

That's what I meant, that 2016 will be better than 2015 in quality.

Do many of you play Uncharted's multiplayer regularly?
