I didn't even realize this was a thing until seeing the trailer before Spider-Man. So clearly not such a big fan that I can judge this too much. But...it didn't really grab me at all. I wasn't even sure who Holland was supposed to be or what the movie was about for a good part of the trailer. Probably reflects my feelings though that the initial response was "oh...I see."

It could surprise me. But I'm not sure how well this will really do. The casting doesn't seem to fit. Does feel like Sony trying to force this casting because Spider-Man. While I like Holland as Peter Parker, it's not like I'll go out of my way to see anything he's in because he's in it.

Didn't win me over initially. Same goes with the Walhberg casting. He can be hit or miss, but can absolutely do good work. But as Sully? Interesting choice.

I've heard worse ideas and think it could make an interesting movie. I rather liked the Star Trek reboot and it had a little of that.

I was completely unaware of anything Uncharted so when I saw the preview, I was like "Uh, okay. I guess I might see it." I honestly didn't get much from the preview, but generally like the genre, so I'll probably bite.

Craigs run as bond is the equivalent of those star trek films. In CR Bond earns his 00 status and goes on his first mission.

I can’t blame Holland for wanting to play a classic character. The idea of a younger Bond is fine, actually… I just don’t think he’s the right fit for it.

Finished my first ever play through of Uncharted 2 the other day. Great game and would make a great movie with the right cast.

Looks like a poster for one of Asylum studio's knockoffs.

A menace?
He just wants a career beyond Spider-Man.
A menace for trying to inject himself and his fan fiction into these pop culture properties regardless of whether he or his ideas actually fits the property, story, characters etc. As a fan I get it, and Im guilty of bad fanfiction. But Tom takes his and uses his contacts and fame and inflicts it on fandoms.

I agree he should have a career beyond Spiderman, and because of Spiderman and his likeability he will. Big roles will come to him without him making awful pitches to studio execs. Pitches that could literally shelve franchises when they fail. And because of his popularity as Spiderman dumb execs like Amy Pascal take his ridiculous pitches seriously.

I'm a huge Uncharted fan. I've been doing playthroughs of the games every year since 2009. At this point Im more attached to Nate and his universe than I am Indiana Jones. *blasphemy* I've been interested in an adaption for years. Not clamoring for it, but would like a good one. Now, I see 2 possible outcomes because of Tom Holland.

1. This awful thing bombs, and Sony shelves the property for a decade, or until another studio gets the rights.

2. This awful thing succeeds and I'm stuck with a Baby Nate trilogy for the next decade and then waiting another 5 - 10 years for Sony or another studio to reboot.

Either way I'm not getting a good adaption for at least 10 years and I have Tom and the braintrust at Sony to thank for that. And now I find out Tom tried to do this **** again with Bond too.

Whats next? Gears of War Origins starring Tom Holland as Marcus Fenix?

How about young Gandalf starring Tom Holland pitch?

Just started Uncharted 3 and while it's not as good as 2 it is still really good so far.

Just nothing in these games except that brief teenage Nate chapter in 3 is in any way similar to Holland.

Or Wahlberg for that matter.

I'm a huge proponent of theatregoing so I'm always rooting for films to do well that get theatrical only, especially during the pandemic. But I can't see this opening well. Maybe 20M?

I see this doing better than that opening weekend. Not sure by how much but 20m seems low.
It's the only new action film for like 2 weeks and has very little big competition before that. Maybe around 35-45m opening?

I also think the GA will not hate or dislike it as much as us fans. Watching the trailers it seems like it's generic enough to be decently entertaining enough if you don't know the game series or don't care about the changes.

I'm a huge fan of the games, but yeah I don't see myself going to see this in the cinema. Which is kinda rare for me.

One of the biggest annoyances for me is that instead of having Holland actually play the role, they essentially are making him act like Peter Parker if the trailers are anything to go by.

I guess I'm getting a lot of Tomb Raider reboot vibes from the whole thing, even down to the way it's being advertised, which opened to 23M. That's why I think it'll be somewhere around there. But who knows.

Not that I know anything about the games (because I don't, have never played them personally), but doesn't Mark Wahlberg seem like a better choice to play Holland's character? The casting of Holland just seems weird in this case.

Back when this project first began development over a decade ago, Wahlberg was eyed to play Nathan Drake. And just like as he is in the current film as Sully, he wouldn't have been a good choice for Drake either.
