Why did they have to do a live-action movie?? Why not do it in the Pixar way and preserve the old cartoon flavor. The guy doesn't even look like Simon Bar-Sinister.

Live or Pixar Animation....

To simply cash in on age old franchises that have pretty much diminished years ago.

Or how they put it, "To introduce it to a new modern audience!"

To Us: "Ruin it."

But the kids seem to like it. So, it's alright I guess.

to paraphrase a song lyric
speed of lighning power of THUNDER
i think this movie's going to BLUNDER
poor underdog poor underdog POOR UNDERDOG

Just came back and I agree with Terry's assessment of the film in the misc. films thread for Underdog. 7/10.

In terms of cartoon to film adaptations:

Flintstones 9/10
Cats and Dogs 8/10
Scooby Doo 8/10
Flintstones 2 7.5/10
Scooby Doo 2/ Underdog 7/10
Garfield 6/10
Rocky and Bullwinkle 5/10
Dudley Doo Right 4/10

The first film is your typical superhero film, which I wanted, with tons of inside references to superhero film lore. Alot of the nods are to Superman, but Spider-Man gets a rather nice nod as well.

I personally feel that once past the origin stage of a superhero franchise, one can have alot more freedom with where to take the story. Since the first film is intro to the characters, powers, villains, and a story to tie those elements all together.

This is also a pretty good superhero film as well, not the best- but, this isn't an Elektra, Catwoman, Batman and Robin, My Super Ex. I would probably rank it around a FF1 level- which I similarly gave a 7/10. Could have been better, but with fixing the places it went wrong and strengthening the places they got right there could be a great sequel... if they learn from their mistakes, which I think they might. Definitely alot more excited for this sequel than for any other cartoon-film adaptation made.

well at lest if Pixar did it, then Riff Raff would have been a wolf instend of turn into a rottweiler.

Okay, what age were you when you first saw Underdog? You were a small child, correct? Now, as this is true, you watched the cartoons to have fun. You watched them because it was Underdog.
At the screening I went to, that's exactly what kids were doing. They were laughing, and having fun with a character I thought was represented quite well. So, in closing, shove it, wash your Alvin and the Chipmunks underoos, and go find some more articles about Iraq to erroneously highlight and parade about.

:yay:

I agree the kids will like it and have fun.

Maybe it's not meant for us adults or young adults but kids will LOVE it for sure.
