Comics Underrated Villains

Great bump. My feelings remain pretty much the same as the last time I posted. Maybe Fusion and Gaunt too.

shocker
vermin
white rabbit
tarantula (original)
molten man
vulture
shriek
swarm
morbious

Chameleon. This guy is an assassin, a spy, has worked with terrorists and mobsters but has been written as a complete joke. He's been beaten by a lady with a baseball bat and an old lady with drugged cookies. C'mon, he deserves better than that.

i actually despise the chameleon like no other, and have actual difficulty reading stories with him, especially these days; when he sleeps with people or pushes himself on folks like mary jane (in ultimate sm) under the guise of peter parker, it's just too difficult for me to read. now, of course that's what he'd do, and that makes him extra nefarious, but i just can't handle my hero being subjected to that kind of character assassination. i can't handle it.

so yeah, he's totally underrated cus generally he seems to just rob banks looking like spidey, but when he's utilized as insidiously as can be, it just makes be depressed.

I'd say that Scorpion counts. He is based on something that eats spiders! He should be to Spider-Man as Owlman is to Batman. He should be one of the more dangerous foes in Spider-Man's rogues gallery. He's even stronger than Spider-Man, wears an armored suit, and has a robotic tail that often terminates in a blade, a laser, acid shooting device, or multiple of the above! Why is so often used as a joke villain?

the chameleon needs more mainstream marvel use, he's too good to be used purely in spiderman stories

the spot should be an avengers level threat

same goes for electro, although i do like his balance of not realising just how powerful he is sometimes

scorpion should be like the cat and a world famous private eye style thief stealilng government secrets from shield, tony starks, wakanda etc

i also have soft spots for kaine and the black tarantula, i loved how black tarantula beat spidey down in the 90s and tooks his mask as a trophy without even caring about his identity. i would have loved to see a throwdown between him and morlun

Absolutely. I know he and Kraven took on Iron Man once but I dont know if they've gone against any other characters.

cus he is impossibly stupid.

I wouldnt say that Scorpion is stupid at all. He was a PI before he was a super villain. The mutations that he underwent changed him physically and mentally. Mentally unstable is not the same as stupid.

cus he is impossibly stupid.

Still, his physical superiority to Spider-Man should make him a threat, right?

Agreed.

I tought that this was for any overrated villains, not just for spider-man, i was already to write The First and frolo

Mark Waid really proved that The Spot can be a really huge threat in Daredevil # 1. If you want to see why I suggest picking that book up because it's freakin' awesome and the artwork is beautiful.

kraven is a batman level villain and would look great in his rogue's gallery.

i wish he has more of an interaction with the black panther as i think those two would have worked out greatly together.

kraven's last hunt was purely amazing and he died believing he had defeated peter parker in mind body and soul.

such a great villain.

I think he truly deserves some movie time, maybe as a minor character across two and then a main villain in the last.

would love to see him taking out the lizard, scorpion, doctor octopus, vulture and the rhino before going after spiderman

Agreed on all counts. I wanted to see Kraven hired to kill the Lizard in the upcoming movie. Oh well.

I like the idea of him being used in the sequel with everybody framing spidey for chameleon's crimes and Kraven the hunter being hired or trying to catch him to gain some more fame

I was mulling over the idea of Chameleon as lead bad guy in a Spider-Man movie the other night. He would need some kind of muscle as back up, of course, as he is no physical match for Spidey. The Rhino would be a great secondary villain to keep Peter on his toes while Chameleon goes about trying to assassinate someone of importance. Rhino and Chameleon are both Russian, so that explains how they could know each other. Rhino would be easily controlled by the much smarter Chameleon. I almost see it as a master/pet relationship. Add to it a paranoid "Who do you trust?" element and it could be a cool espionage type movie.

I sincerelly am more interesting in seeing the remaining original sinister six members on screen:
Kraven, Electro, Vulture and Misterio

also clearly seeing what spectacular spiderman could do with tombstone and maintaining his relationship with robbie, i think he could be an excellent villain

Chameleon is definitely underrated as well, IMO.

i would take it a step further: he totally defeated peter, even more so because he didn't kill him, so that peter would know that not only had he been buried alive, but that kraven was able to become spider-man in his absence. peter only lived because kraven didn't want to kill him. if he had, spidey would be dead. last hunt is among my favorite story arcs.

i don't know that being a pi means that one is smart, but i will grant you, certainly, that being mentally unstable is not the same as being stupid. either way, i've never seen scorpion adapt, improvise, or use his physical superiority to successfully best spidey. he's a powerful thug in a suit, and has never been imbued with much intellect.

a private eye requires some higher level of intelligence and expert surveillance skills

even though he's never been written good, technically he should be up there with regards to scheming

well up to that point he totally defeated parker.

killed parker
replaced him
took on and defeated a villain spiderman couldn't
watched spiderman fail in his first attempt to kill the ivillain

unfortunately he killed himself too early as he never thought spiderman would aprehend the guy again on his own.

but he had peace of mind when he took his life.

the lizard could easily be used to portray this story
