That's good, yes? It'll make even more money and then they'll make another one. :D

Underworld: Rise of the Lycans.

Second Weekend: $7.2 million

The dark action prequel Underworld: Rise of the Lycans (Screen Gems) took a massive tumble in its second weekend with the prospect of facing two strong new genre movies. It dropped from 2nd to 7th place with a weekend gross of $7.2 million and $33 million total.

Domestic total: $32,784,000

it sounds like the guy that plays raze has ideas for more sequels. this one seems to be doing so good, i can't see why they wouldnt' do another one. as long as kate beckinsale returns though...

i still have issues with the factthat lucian didnt' get branded with viktors mark. when he saved sonja from lycans and was made into a slave again, THAT is when he should have got the mark on his arm. obviously the war with kraven wasn't meant to be a part of this story so theres more inbetween 3 and 1, but if they didnt' mark him in this one on purpose...then are we to think that he is captured in the future by viktor and THEN branded? i don't think viktor would think twice about killing him after the way he got gagged with lucians sword...my only complaint about the movie really. other than that i LOVED it

If they were to do a Underworld tv show, I hope they go the Buffy route and just start from scratch instead of it being a continuation of the films continuity.

The tricky part in doing a TV show is doing the Lycans right.

You can bet that the sad-sack that pays for the Beckinsale costume is gonna do horrid, unsavoury things to it. Alone.

I agree. If they try to keep the continuity I think it will lead to a big fail before the second season hits...third if they're lucky.

You talking about effects budget?

Yep, There have been some decent Werewolves on TV before, but I don't dig how they usually do it Incredible Hulk style (where the monster is in a 40 minute show all of 5 minutes).

Fourth Underworld Rumblings Begin
At yesterday's Underworld auction within the halls of Premiere Props, ShockTillYouDrop.com learned Screen Gems was pleased with the opening weekend numbers of Underworld: Rise of the Lycans and is happy with its overall performance (it has grossed nearly $50 million worldwide to date). DVD sales are sure to reinforce the prequel's success and so talks of a fourth chapter have begun, says our source at the weekend event.

When we pressed auction guest Patrick Tatopoulos, director of the third film, for more details he said he would be happy to return in some capacity, such as FX, but he would not return to direct. Instead, he's circling another creature-laden feature film, but would not reveal what it was to auction attendees.

He also wanted to put an end to an argument that appears to be running rampant on Internet message boards. Tatopoulos states firmly that it is indeed Kate Beckinsale who provides Lycans' opening and closing narration, not Rhona Mitra.

^its pretty obvious that it is Kate doing the voice over in the beginning

i actually just thought it was rhona talking at first, i have never heard her talk before and was thinking how much she sounded like kate...makes sense now

Any idea on a dvd date? want to see this film again but may not have time this week, and its not at the cinema anymore from friday :P

i think it was very cheap how they connected both movies at end. some footage+some dialoge and voila?
