I believe so. The screenwriter for Prisoners is penning the script, last I heard.

I'm not sure a shared universe is gonna work for the monsters. Just doesn't seem like it's gonna be that great of an idea . Im all for a retelling of these stories and Dracula Untold wasn't a bad movie . I just wish they would have done something different with the Mummy . I'm a big fan of The Mummy Franchise and its Indiana Jones vibe . Sure the last one wasn't great but it's watchable and enjoyable . If anything is like to see a modern movie about Rick O'Connell's great grandson . Keep it in the family and keep the adventure feel of it . Rick has been the closest thing to an Indy that we've had and all in all a pretty good successor

The Monsters can get along just fine, it's already been done. The Wolf Man fought the Frankenstein monster and it was friggin' awesome.

I love the fact that they share the same U.
It's an idea that goes back over 70 years.

Of course they can. They were the first characters to do so on the silver screen.

The only classic monster I fell is worth remaking is Creature from the Black Lagoon.

Everyone knows Dracula, Frankenstein's Monster, Wolfman, Mummy etc.

There already was a major Dracula Origin movie...a Wolfman remake...that Victor Frankenstein movie last year...the Brendan Frasier Mummy movies are still regarded as good.

The Van Helsing movie didn't need a decade of individual movies to put all the monsters together. That movie even had Dr. Jekyll.

The Monster Squad just threw the classic monsters against the Goonies essentially.

We don't need all these excess movies. Make a mega Monster movie and if it does well...then you can spin off into individual movies. The DC route basically.

"Abbot and Costello meet Frankenstein" nailed the connected cinematic universe thing 60 years before Iron Man, and a comedy would be a great way to introduce the monster mash up. One idea I read had Key and Peele taking over the roles of comedic foils to the Universal Monsters, and I think that would be perfect.

I can see Key and Peele doing the Laurel and Hardy thing honestly, but sadly, odds are Madea is gonna try it before them.

Agreed. That has more potential than people think. Alien meets King Kong essentially. That's something we've never seen before.

Javier Bardem eyed for Frankenstein role in Universal's monster universe (EXCLUSIVE) http://bit.ly/28JzcN2

Sources tell Variety that Javier Bardem is in talks to star as Frankenstein in Universal’s cinematic universe with rebooted versions of classic monster movies. It’s currently unknown which movie Bardem would first appear in, as “The Mummy,” the first film in the monster universe, is about to wrap shooting.

Ironically, Bardem had been approached about playing the Dr. Jekyll role in “The Mummy,” but passed on the part, which opened the door for Crowe to step into the role.

That's more of a crossover than an expansive cinematic universe.

It's nice to see the monster, the wolf man and the Mummy being diverse.

This is gonna be a really expensive cinematic universe.
