Universal wants another Hulk movie!

"Universal and Marvel's reboot "The Incredible Hulk" has been a hit with fanboys, cuming $115.8 million to date. Although "The Incredible Hulk" isn't likely to cume much more than Ang Lee's 2003 "Hulk," which grossed roughly $132 million domestically, U says that's good enough to signal a new film franchise."

Sure. But even if they want to make a sequel, most likely it's another 4 years down the road, unless Marvel scraps Thor or...Captain America. Which I don't see happening. Marvel's current slate is set so far. I'm sure TIH is turning a profit but that is not the point. No TIH2 until after The Avengers, I think. And, no, Universal did not write the article, but they did provide the quote, right? It's PR stuff, and it's fine. Besides, Marvel decides if another Hulk is made or not, right? Let's see what they say.

I hear what your saying and yes it will be up to Marvel. It just kills me how everyone works in the financial dept for Marvel. Only the people at marvel will know how the numbers turn out for them. I hope we get a sequel, but only they know right now.

That's public posturing to try and get additional business in theaters and generate interest when the film hits DVD. Unless the film really turns big on DVD, I don't see any reason why Marvel would pursue another one with the unlimited vault of heroes to pick from. I think it's all but guaranteed the Hulk will be relegated to a supporting role in the Avengers. Too bad. I liked the new film. If given the opportunity I think the series could be very good.

Hulk should have been a supporting character from the get go. Hulk really could shine fighting and maybe aiding the Avengers during their battles.

This is great

it will make bank

look at this like a mini Batman Begins and build hype properly

Hulk BETTER NOT be relegated to a supporting role in the Avengers. :cmad:

He should be a major player and should have equal importance with the other members. The "Big 4" should be Captain America, Iron Man, Hulk, and Thor.

I'll be royally p***** if ANT-MAN plays a bigger part than Hulk!!!

Great news. This movie is definately not getting the dough it deserves, but i'm glad we're getting a sequel.

have we heard anything from Marvel yet, re a sequel?

Nope. Nothing from Marvel about a sequel yet. Universal have said that they think it has made enough to warrant a sequel but the final decision rests of Marvel but I'm sure we are going to get a TIH2 after The Avengers. 2012 is the year we will see Hulk in his solo installment I think, but from 2010-2011 we will see him in other Marvel films such as Iron Man 2 (maybe) and The Avengers.

Nope ^^^.... Universal can talk... at the end of the day Marvel has to give the green and that won't happen any time soon... we are probably looking at another MOS.

I hope we do get a sequel, TIH was a good enough start to a franchise, but with the BO numbers, i just cant see it, especially with the amount of money it will most likely cost.

I hope i'm wrong of course.

Yeah I agree with this... might be a problem if they recast Norton which is still likely IMO... but anyhow... the conflict with the Hulk and rest of the Avengers should definitely be a driving force in the film.

May not hear anything until the next Comic-con. San Diego Comic-Con is in another 3 weeks.

Marvel and Universal could make the sequel cost less than TIH.

True plus, R&H has all their design work in the can already, they theoretically could start new work fairly quickly compared to someone who would have to start from scratch

Personally. From that standpoint, a sequel may actually be less costly.

And I personally agree with him. If a sequel is made they could make it cost less than its predecessor.

Why did you change the text in my quote above from "Precisely" to "Personally"?

LOL...

HULK should be in Iron Man 2. I'd love to see those 2 duke it out.

My computer is really low grade right now so I had to type down what everybody said and do the quote writing by typing, lol I guess I accidently misquoted you, my bad...

I'd see a TIH sequel in the theatre, definetly, but I'd preffer to see The Avengers first.

And I suppose Marvel will want to do a Avengers sequel too, so I don't see at all a sequel of TIH, don't know...

only time will tell.

Yeah but the chances of Hulk appearing in Avengers 2 are slim to none considering he isn't a lasting member on the team. Besides it's not like Marvel will be making Avenger 1-3 with the same cast... anyhow... while this news is good I am still not expecting a sequel... Fox did the same **** with Fantastic Four... producers almost immediately declared FF3 greenlit yet here we are with no movement on a sequel to FF:ROTSS... then WB said Supes WILL GET A SEQUEL as long as it grossed 200... it did (although barely) and we still have not gotten any movement on MOS. And this news also came only weeks after those films were released... once reality sets in... I think Marvel will realize they don't have a franchise with this character.

why not?.... they could...

the question is Do they want?

personally, I'd preffer an Avengers trilogy, but I know that is a bit complicated, but isn't impossible either.

again, time will tell, hehe.

Avengers will be a franchise when all is said and done... but they will probably end up recasting... once you get beyond three films it RARELY goes beyond that for most actors today unless its like 10-15 years later (which doesn't work when you are talking about comic book characters). RDJ will be too old... I'd prefer he returned for IM 3 instead. If they go with unknown actors for Thor and Cap then I am sure those guys would return... but right now we are looking at one Avengers movie with the current staple of characters. Sequels will in all likelyhood feature a new cast of characters.

I think the best way would be shot two sequels back to back. And say bye bye to the actors then.

Do you have any idea how much that would cost??? POTC 2-3 were around 450 million... just think about that number for a minute... no one believed they'd be as successful but they just happened to be... to do two Avenger sequels with the same cast no less... we'd be looking at 500-600 million with inflation. It's ludicrous. They are just going to add new characters in place of old characters IMO. What we need after Avengers is Hulk 2 in 2012... IM3 in 2013... both of which will be cheaper... if Avengers is a mega hit I'd be thinking sequel in 2014... but I wouldn't have Iron Man or Hulk in it... as for Thor and Cap... it depends on what the story line is for the sequel. I wouldn't even bring them back if there isn't a decent Avenger story left in the comics involving those that wasn't already done in the first film. Too far down the line to tell being that we don't even know what the first film will be about.
