In Honor of February 14th: "It's no coincidence that 'Valentine's Day' and 'venereal disease' have the same initials."

:hehe:

Damn, already?

I didn't mind V-Day when I was single. All the mushy couples didn't bother one bit.

^^^ lol at veneral disease. Yes, V Day is just a good excuse for women to get more jewelry, and for men to get bjs.

You know, I read somewhere yesterday that said the idea of an engagement ring was really brought about by jewlery companies. Apparently before that, only the really rich did such things. That's when the "diaminds are forever" phrase was coined.

Poll: yeah for haters!

That's right Valentine's Day can suck it!

Unless there's a brutual valetines day massacre then its cool.:o:grin:

Valentine's Day is always a special day for my wife and I. Our first date was on a Valentine's Day (and my wife flew cross country to surprise me with it to boot, since we knew each other but were living in different cities at the time). We just keep it simple. Make a nice dinner and share a nice bottle of wine in front of the fire and exchange cards. It's something we look forward to every year.

I know a lot of people center their relationship around Valentine's Day, the first time they met, kissed, dated, asked each other out, got married... etc. I guess my wife and I fall under that category because our first real date was to a Valentine's Day Dance... so it's a pretty big deal to us as well.

But we keep it simple these days as well, no more formal dances... just us two with some nice music when the spawn are put to bed slow dancing together. Something we try to keep special no matter how long we've been together.[/endofmushy]

Sometimes the simple things in life make for the best memories. I have NEVER given my wife jewelry for Valentine's Day (other days, sure, but usually when she's not expecting it). Same goes for flowers. I've given her a single red rose on a few Valentine's Days but not a full dozen. Again, it's funner to save those for surprises (and cheaper, too, since florists gleefully jack up the prices of roses on Valentine's....the f**kers!). The day we really center our marriage around is the 4th of July, though; we got engaged on top of the Empire State Building on a 4th of July, just before the fireworks went off.

I love Valentine's Day. I don't love the commercial side of it but I love just treating people special and allowing them to have a day of love. I use it as a day to tell the people I care for that I love them and I am thankful that they are in my life. It becomes a day not only for my sweetheart but for all the people I love.

First this thread is waaaay too early, like Christmas decorations/threads in early Nov. early. That said, don't really pay too much attention to the "holiday" when single. Just bury my head in the sand so to speak, go home play some video games and don't think about it. Looking like this year I'll have to make some plans though.

Valentine's Day is always celebrated but kept low key. A nice dinner, a quiet night and exchanging of small gifts.

I broke up with a chick on Valentines day a few years ago. And by broke up, I mean found out she was f**king her old boyfriend, got into a street fight, broke a bottle over the man's head, ran from the cops, and had to get 40 stitches from a cut on my arm.

So what you are trying to say is that, all in all, it was a pretty good Valentine's Day.

Kidding aside, that does suck when that happens at any time of the year but especially Valentine's.

You see, that's the kind of Valentine's Day you remember

Have to go here...

Tell me about it. :(

I've always found myself single on Valentine's Day. This past year even when I was in a relationship we didn't even do anything. I don't see the need of a single day to tell my friends, family, or special someone that I love them. I can do that any day of the year, and still be romantic.
