Vanilla Ice still has it.

vanilla ice is one of those lucky pieces of crap who's "quality" (or lack there of) goes ignored in favor of superficial nostalgia. kinda like cassette tapes.....

You can't blame nostalgia. Ice Ice Baby was the #1 song 20 years ago, so people have always liked it.

To be fair, there are plenty of crappy no1 singles of the past, yes, even ones that stayed there for ages, that in retrospect folk think are rubbish. Rubbish, but they like to hear them as it gives them a laugh and reminds them of old times, ie nostalgia.

In the Uk there have been the 'Jive Bunny' singles(which are mash ups of old tunes with a cartoon rabbit superimposed over old footage of people jitter bugging etc) and things like Chesney Hawke's 'the One and Only', all stayed at the top of the charts for ages, and were considered complete garbage pretty much from the off.

As for the fake autobiography thing, funny, but the ironic thing is, he was living on the bread line when he signed his contract.

The timing was wrong. It was too soon after the Milli Vanilli scandal. People over-reacted and that was that.

Available now in shops on audiobooks:"Milli Vanilli read Vanilla Ice's 'Autobiography'"

Asked why he had the Vanilli boys recite his story instead of doing it himself, Ice said: " The boys know where it's at, they've been down similar roads, but have kept silent in regards to their own story, I think they're a bit shy that way, humble. So, I asked them to get my story down on tape, we have a lot in common, the same bs story, beating the odds in our own way, keeping our own truth, protecting our own truth. No-one needs to know the truth, but my truth is here spoken through their truth, and if anyone is interested, they can find their own truth through ours, but the key here is story, and truth, never tell lies, unless you can get someone else to, uh, what I mean is...if you can't tell the truth keep your mouth shut and let someone else to do it for you...uh...yeah, that's we're trying to do here, it's a collaboration for the blind and the illiterate, and the cool dudes who do not like to be seen on the bus with a book, but will sit with headphones no sweat. Peace out bros."

To be honest...my mind explodes once the beat starts in these recent concert videos and the crowd loses their minds...so what version is he singing? It sounds like a 2009 remix?

He was an entertaining performer, but his ego and attitude tarnished his talent.

One of my favorite songs was Rollin' in my 5.0.

I think this is just a case of mainstream rap over the last decade getting so horrid that is makes Vanilla Ice look good.
