Really enjoyed the demo, not quite as fast paced as I originally thought, but doesn't feel like it drags as much as I feel most shot and pop titles do. Not sure exactly on the health, though; I couldn't tell how much damage I could take, there doesn't seem to be any indication or anything.

But they don't even have that do they? GOW has a big ass red symbol that covers the screen, you know you're dying, but there's nothing like that in this as far as I could tell. It tells you when you're in critical condition and need to run away, but you don't get any sense of how much damage you're taking to that point.
Apparently they went with the Dead Space route and the lines on your back represent your health. It works on a slower paced game like DS, but not here in my opinion.
Since I don't really have a way of downloading the demo out here, perhaps you can answer how it plays. Are the controls responsive and stuff? Can you compare it to any other 3rd person shooter in terms of gameplay?
Really? Totally missed that, I'll play the demo again and keep my eye on that. Thanks for the heads-up. Though, yeah, I agree with you, they should've went another route.
Once I adjusted and everything, the controls and such felt fine. Everything was responsive and worked fine. I'm not really thinking of the best thing to compare it to, though. I guess just try to imagine Gears of War, with more freedom to move and do crazy stunts without getting swiss cheesed.

1UP reports that a second Vanquish demo will soon be dashing its way to consoles. The announcement was made by director Shinji Mikami and producer Atsushi Inaba during a stage show at TGS. The demo is set to offer a challenge mode, designed to provide a more challenging experience for skilled players. The new demo will arrive in Japan on September 22. We've contacted Sega to see if it will also see release outside of Japan.
