I liked his performance too, I just always thought he'd do better in 3 as a side-character(which I think was their original intention) because his character felt a bit like Jimmy Olsen from the Superman series of films/comic-books. I wished they saved him up for 4 and just explored the character throughout the film, near the end you see Peter take the symbiote suit off and then it begins to look at a new host; Eddie Brock. Would've been a nice cliffhanger ending and also it could've made 4 more of a psychological adventure for Spidey with having Venom stalk him around and mess with his mind like in the comic-books, and then finally at the end of the film it's just plain and simple Spider-Man vs. Venom; no team-ups, just one big 10 minute plus brawl in a skycraper as to there's a lot more going on, while fighting Venom a skyscraper could malfunction and Spider-Man is forced to save it with Venom on his back.
