Punisher script review

The Tim Burton Batman was awesome f*** this Chud turd! So far I love it, yeah the script is flawed but if they can deliver the over the top action who gives a crap. I want the Punisher to f*** $hit up in this one. It's the Punisher so it should be like a comic not Taxi Driver. I've read several scripts and I can dog on every single one if I wanted, Tranformers was pretty cool and its script sucked. There's no pleasing everyone. I have faith in Lexi and the cast to pull it off. :unishr:

NEW script review (also negative):

hopefully this was not posted already. I didn't check all the pages of this thread.

I don't mean to be rude, but the things he said he didn't like about the script - I'm really looking forward to.

I mean it all sounds pretty good.

This reviewer seems like he should hang out with Fraction - they'd get along fine.

I'm in love with John Woo.. Or at least his earlier films and The Punisher needs to be like an old HK John Woo film. A character driven drama with extreme over the top action and a large body count. Bullets and blood everywhere.

This reviewer seems like he should hang out with Fraction - they'd get along fine.

Is that just like... a general thing you say about people you don't like, or does this actually mean something?

From what I've read about the War Journal series, I just can't seem to get around to downloading the torrent. After reading that review, I don't know if my interest level is kind of blaise about the whole movie production (fascinating as it is with all the millions being poured into it). Who knows, maybe there's a possibility of this huge movie production becoming somewhat of a popular download for those who have enough time (outside of their social lives) and hard drive space leftover after downloading porn?

There's not enough info. out yet to make a concrete opinion but I don't think the story points sound too good.

In the case of the Punisher it means something, I keep reading these reviews and the things they seek out to attack are things that I've read most of the time from Ennis run, that I enjoyed when I read it.

The other thing is the attack general character traits from the Punisher, that again since reading the character for the past 18 years now that are things I enjoy about the character.

The reviews all focus so much on getting their whitty jokes in and pretending they care about the character, that the reviews do nothing but showcase their ignorance.

--I don't know did you read this review????

1.)The reviewer was upset Punisher fought regular people instead of SUPER POWERED VILLAINS like Dr. Doom

2.)Upset Punisher killed an old man at his party

3.)Upset about Punisher talking about his familys death which usually happens once an arc or every other arc....

I mean I don't know what the two reviewers we have now have wanted -- he had a good point with the narratives that'd be nice -- but they seem to want a masterpiece. The Punisher is the PUNISHER - he doesn't need an academy award winning script...

I mean the reviews seem to be more about when can I fit my next sly cutting edge hip joke instead of what am I reviewing???

I've been worried about the entire production, but the honest truth is most of the story points are watered down versions directly translated from Garth Ennis runs over the last 7 years on Punisher Marvel Knights and Punisher Max... So the story points, and characters are the least of my worries - I'm interested to see how some look on screen... it's the execution that I am worried about...

But you make a good point it is WAY too early to tell anything yet.

That last part about quips... you're right, it's a really second rate thing for a reviewer to do if they haven't got a solid argument. In agreement with that, I'd rather be right than be funny like the reviewer is attempting... seems like a person would build a better reputation that way.

I don't think I would want to see Dr. Doom vs. the Punisher on film, it's not like we get enough movies to really squeeze "extra" stuff like that in. But a lot of people do like Castle as an accessory to the Marvel Universe, and not in his own little world... he really livens up other characters' books when he guest stars.

It's a poor review... not as bad as the disasterous IESB one, but not very good all the same. I just don't understand why that puts Fraction in league with him. Fraction never said that Frank shouldn't usually fight regular criminals... but why would they want to publish a series identical to MAX at the same time?

Some scripts/stories just don't come across the same way on paper as they do on film. I can't imagine how laughable some of my favorite films would read as a screenplay.

This is true, AD, and to the reviewer's credit, he even mentions right before going into the review that he wonders how valid the concept of a script review is, since it often bares little relevance to the finished product.

But it's a script review, not a movie review. Very different, and he acknowledged this much. What he reviewed might not even end up on the screen (the whole table scene at the start just might not end up being realised how they thought and it could get scrapped for all we know) . . .

Never thought I'd ever quote Axl Rose, but all we need is just a little patience, guys . . .

What do you guys think about the reviewer's choice of the words "Scorcese-lite?"

You give a fair assessment and you are correct about Fraction... sometimes I unfairly scape goat him with how unenjoyable Punisher War Journal has been so far - like you stated though, I do enjoy when Punisher pops up in other books... I personally tend to dislike when Punisher battles super powered villains but obviously people must like it since War Journal is selling pretty well on the comics charts

Script sounds like it could be worse than the first movie. And I mostly agree with his take on Burtons Batman movie, I think that has to be one of Burton's worse movies, it's not awful but it damn sure aint good.

P.S. I'm not a Nolanphile.

That film had been largely edited by the studio. Wasn't mutually exclusive that Burton hadn't stuck his name to it willingly.

Batman Begins is so far the definitive Batman film. That being said, Burton's Batman is not a bad film at all. So this reviewer gets no credibility from me. Not to mention he puts down Garth Ennis' work.

Burton's Batman is not that good of a film. This is all how you look at it, though.

If there was no Batman Begins, there wouldn't be all this 89's Batman bashing. Yeah Batman and Robin is way better than the Tim Burton's Batman. Leave it to the non Punisher fans to come in here and trash talk the new Punisher flick that hasn't been filmed yet.:whatever:

I never liked the first Batman film simply because it isn't Batman to me. Yeah, Batman Begins revolutionized the series, but, thank god for that. (We have a right to bash the film. Now that a better film has come out, we can truly appreciate it and pick out what exactly was wrong with 89.)

Batman and Batman Returns truly confused me as a kid, they were so close to the character of the Punisher, but they were not the Batman that I had grown to love.

He killed people, etc.

Well have you seen Willy Wonka then?
