Everyone is jumping to that new movie market.
Ubisoft created an internal movie studio, Capcom said that they want to be the new Marvel, and started production of the Lost Planet movie.
Now, it´s time to EA, which just made agreement with United Talent Agency to bring their franchises to the big and small screen.
Between the projects are a Dead Space animated, direct-to-DVD feature; a MySims animated series and.....a feature version of The Sims.....

A MOVIE ABOUT THE SIMS??!!? :wow: :csad: :whatever:

Of all their franchises, they choosed..THE SIMS??!!

Oh, yeah. Whatever happened to that CGI Resident Evil Movie? Have there been any news on it?

Video game movies have a long way to go before they even begin to match the success and quality of comic book movies.

Well, they have to get their first Batman because Burton's Batman is the true catalysor for comic book movies and later, X-Men and Batman Begins made them standard genres.

So far, games haven't even gotten their Elektra and most of them are among the worst. Not to mention someone like Uwe Boll keeps absuing them even more. Hopefully the new Prince of Persia and BioShock movies are good.

Video game movies:All of them::comic book movies:Fantastic Four 2

A movie about The Sims could be hilarious if done right.

Movies based on games WILL eventually work, just like comic book films did. Its just gonna take the right story, with the right talent at the right time.

Metal Gear Solid will be that movie...i hope.

Gah that will be YEARS for video game movies to be just as successful at comic book movies.

Only if they speak in Sims language (which is a bunch of gibberish).

It should involve people who know they are under control by an unseen force, but can't do anything about it. And it should have all the torturing techniques like no bathroom, or no doors, that us sadistic Sims players use.

I have hope for Max Payne and Prince of Persia, and Bioshock could work, but beyond that, I'm doubtful.

I am doubtful, sadly.

The reason I am is that usually...a good game doesn't need a good story to work. So, the stories are much more scarce to mine gold from.

What ends up happening is that Hollywood needs to get creative...and we all know how bad that ends up going. And, we end up with something that barely resembles the source material...and sucks on it's own usually.

Don't get me wrong...I'm sure we'll get the great videogame movie eventually...we've had some good ones so far....I just think it's harder to get there considering how shoddy the writing CAN be overall from the gaming industry.

The only games in my mind that could have a chance are the ones rich in story. Metal Gear Solid is the best candidate I think.

Len Wiseman is the director attached to Gears of War, at least, that´s what Variety states.
I didn´t liked Underworld nor Underworld Evolution, so, i´m apprehensive about it. Then again, Wiseman made Live Free or Die Hard, which is a good movie, a great homage to the action movies of the late 80s early 90s.
So, it might be not as bad....

God of War doesn´t have the same luck....Brett Ratner is on the helm.
At least that´s the info in MGM´s press release for the new Robocop
David Self’s credits include 13 Days and Road To Perdition. He wrote God of War for Universal, to which Brett Ratner is attached to direct, and was a writer on Universal’s Wolfman currently in production.

has there ever been a good live action video game movie? The only one I can think of was the first Mortal Kombat one

thats about it.the only possibly great one is Metal Gear Solid which imo could be The dark knight of video game movies.Devil may Cry could work only if they adapt part 3.God of War could possibly work too but I think they would add stuff to the story.I think they should take another stab at Mortal Kombat.Could be good if they tried.
