Video killed the Radio star, Youtube killed the Video star![]()
I've found the perfect solution to thatUsed to be a time when MTV would break new bands and artists. But MTV got out of touch and lost its balls. They don't have the guts to show any music video's outside of the mainstream anymore.
horrible music has been made video right from the start (Come on Elieen, I want candy, et al)Horrible music killed video.
You don't see music videos on T.V. very often anymore. A few here and there, but honestly they seem to be getting rare. Replaced by "reality" and "game" shows, movies and T.V. serieses too. Why? Wasn't there a market for videos? Would you prefer to see a music video on MTV / Much or "Ghost" for the upteenth time?
Funny thing about Made, is that it was a show about regular ordinary people doing something they've never done before; but now this show is starting to get cliched because everyone on there wants to be the same thing: loner wants to be prom queen/king, popular girl who likes pink wants to be a skateboarder, jock wants to do something not involved in sports, geek wants to be a ladies man, etc.Well half of MTV is not even about music anymore, it has become a teen drama channel with shows like Made.

I watch Subterranean on MTV2 occasionally and MTV loves to cram as many commercials into each break as they can. It works out to 2 videos in between 5-6 minute commercial breaks. That's more commercials than any other network I've ever seen. It appears they care more about their advertisers than actually showing videos. So you get a one hour show with about 9-10 videos per episode that's only on once a week. The rest of the week is devoted to more mainstream artists or their other, non-music programming. It's total crap.
MTV has a channel for solely music videos, MTV Hits.

ever since the begging, MTV has made it a standar format to show more or less ten videos in one hourI watch Subterranean on MTV2 occasionally and MTV loves to cram as many commercials into each break as they can. How long will that last though. Just about every MTV spinoff channel started out as videos only to break away from the original crapfest but they always eventually sell out and put on dumb shows again.

there was DIAL MTV which aired in the mid-late 80's early 90's and it would last an hour and it was a top ten most requested videos, the show lasted an hour
MTV's Top 20 was a two hour show
120 minutes would show more or less 20 videos each show, so did Post Modern MTV
Headbangers Ball was a 3 hour show that would play more or less 30 videos
I have the vhs tapes to prove it
3 Hours of music videos...Bring it back!!!
it was metal, hard rock and the like3 Hours of music videos...Bring it back!!!
MTV used to stand for Music Television but now it's become Moronic Television. And VH1 has followed suit. MTVHits? We have to pay extra for that? Eff it! The programs now shown on these two once-music-tv makes me sad... and nauseous.
