So I was watching the first Spider-Man yesterday, and I noticed vague parallels between it and the other two movies. I don't know if they're intentional, but hey. Thought I'd post them for you all.

Peter making a choice in SM1 and again in SM3

How Peter deals with enemies (throws 'em against a wall)

Lovers walking away from each other at a funeral (this one is almost certainly intentional- and forgive the poor quality screencap)

Parallels between the last two movies: the burning building

And the backyard conversation:

That's all I got. Any thoughts?

Wow, those are cool...

Especially the MJ and Peter one at the funeral

Good eye

Even sound theme in burning buldings is the same, you dont know that?

That's cool, but I get the feeling that all of these parallels are intentional.

Of the one's listed here only Peter slamming Brock into a wall is unintentional. The rest certainly are.

Right. The parallel between Peter attacking Carradine and Peter attacking Brock is just Tobey Maguire's angry face.

The rest are intentional, however. Remember that, despite the fact that the franchise was going to continue, Raimi wanted to brings to a conclusion in SM3.

I love this sort of symbology, but I'm not good at picking it out myself.

Symbolism damn it! Big difference!
:oldrazz:
And it's not that hard, all you have to do is just start looking.

Yeah, Raimi and his "genius" writers are extremely creative when it comes to recycling what they've already done before. This is why I want a new cast and crew with a different and more accurate vision inspired from the comics.

I don't think it's recycling what came before- drawing visual parallels is a pretty common trick in movies (just look at Star Wars) and a way of establishing continuity between movies. I think someone compared it to repeating lines in a poem...

Anyway. Here's another one that's quite obvious:

Both stabbed by their own weapon, while facing Peter...

Don't get me wrong, some of the parallels are quite good but others are just cheap rip offs of what's already been done before.

Thanks for all your comments, btw, guys. Much appreciated. :D

Anyway- I am moving house today and all my stuff is packed now aside from the computer, so I shall entertain myself and you with more musings:

Another probably-not-intentional parallel: Peter and Eddie

Two young men, both rejected by the woman they love, standing in a crowd...

No, I would say that one looks definitely intentional.
The scenes are most of the times anyways. Those shots may come accidental/natural but it’s a given.

I don't have pictures of them, but Harry introducing Peter to his father and then to Otto Octavius could be a parallel, too.

^ That's true.
Guess there are more of them than the ones we caught on the surface.

Don't forget about the sky views of the city in all 3 films.
