The Dark Knight Rises Wacky Theories About TDKR Now Proven Untrue (SPOILERS)

Some of us thought Bruce was screaming because either Alfred or Conti's character was getting killed in front of him.

I was really thinking that this was going to be the case. Although the Special Forces guys hanging from the bridge on TV was pretty creepy.

- That TDKR would be based on the Prey storyline from the LOTDK comic books, as soon as this news was out people were scrambling to get those issues.
- Joseph Gordon-Levitt would play Riddler
- the Joker would make a cameo but hidden in the shadows

When JGL was cast, I remember a lot of people said he could be playing The Joker due to somewhat of a resemblance to the late Heath Ledger.

Bane = Ra's Al Ghul after the monorail crash in BB. That was the reason for his mask, baldness etc.

Some people were talking about Bruce's limp being psychosomatic and that he would overcome it by escaping the pit.

That rumor is actually more interesting than what we got in the final film. Not only is it more interesting from a story perspective, but it actually explains why Bruce doesn't limp after he escapes the pit.

I haven't heard this one before. But personally I thought the cane was all part of Bruce's cover so people wouldn't think he was Batman. Same goes for the medical exams in the hospital.

"Rachel wasn't really dead and would come back with a NEW face" - To be fair, there quite a few easter eggs that could have made this happen. A) No funeral or body shown in TDK. Plus her photo being featured a few times in Rises. B) All the CLEAN SLATE protocols brought up by Catwoman and the notion of changing one's identity C) Bringing in Daggett, who was originally created for BTAS and made the "ReNew You" cream which spawned the Face changing ability and ultimately...Clayface. But as we saw, Daggett was disposed of and no clayface allusions were even attempted.

"Elijah Burke aka Pro Wrestler The Pope was cast to be killed by Bane in a jab at Schumacher's Bane from B n R"
Though Elijah Burke/Pope was credited as an extra during the prison break, I believe his actual scene(involving him running at the Cops in the WAR scene) was cut. Still would've been cool to see the Pope get a death scene!

Yeah, I met Burke while working on the set...shame the guy didn't get his due and appear on camera. He's a funny guy, lots of charisma.

Never heard the Rachel Dawes theory before, it sounds horrendous.

The rumor was initailly, she wasn't really dead and could return in this film as Catwoman or some other female with an altered appearance from the explosion.

I just drew the possible Dawes conclusion from the Eggs within the trilogy.

I find it funny that EVERYONE knew Miranda would end up being Talia and they tried to throw us the Red herring of Bane Al-Ghul!

I remember hearing some ridiculous conjecture about the Wayne Legacy being resolved.

I remember reading that Bruce would look in the mirror and see the reflection of Ras Al Ghul.

Selina, Gordon, or Blake freeing Bruce from prison.

As superhero geeks, we love to speculate. And then once in a while, we get these goofy rumors that crop up from various "insiders" that ultimately turn out to be totally bogus or mostly untrue. We've had them for each Batman movie, and this one undoubtedly had some great ones. What are some rumors you heard leading up to this film that you now know were a bunch of crap? Here are the ones I can think of:

Bruce Wayne is in a wheelchair after Bane beats him down.

The Lazarus Pit appears in the film.

Ra's al Ghul is behind everything and Batman fights him at the end.

John Blake's real name is Dick Grayson. He's an orphan that Bruce raised and later sent into the GCPD under a fake name to gather intel on criminals.

Gordon dies.

Batman dies.

There is a scene where Bane breaks the inmates out of Arkham but leaves the Joker (who we never actually see) in his cell.
i thought that happens...

-The Riddle was the only possible villain who could top Heath Ledger's Joker.
-The actor who played Dr. Who would be the Riddler hunting down Batman for Gotham PD after Dent was killed and he would find out his true identity.
-Batman was going to die at the end.
-Gordon's son was going to be Robin or his daughter would become Batgirl.
-Two-Face was going to be the primary villain of this film hunting down mobsters who tried to have him killed.

JGL and Marion were both playing Falcones.

Superman saves Batman at the end of the film thus intertwining the two universes at that point.

Daniel Sunjuta, Burn Gorham and others were hired to play a team of cops that would be hunting down the batman. The rumor made it seem like these actors were playing special force type cops hired specifically to take down Batman.

Funny thing is, Daneil Sunjuta did end up playing a special force guy, but he was there to help stop Bane, not hunt Batman.

Quite the opposite, a few of my theories about these films in general have been proven very true.

I called the plot, & villains way back in August '08, near the bottom of this page (although I was terribly wrong about Catwoman, she exceeded my expectations)

I also surmised Bruce's retirement before the start of the film (although I didn't think he'd be gone for the full 8 years)

And just for old times sake, while not a real prediction, I did recognize the amount of crow coming on this tired subject

Ahh, those were the times, I'm getting a tad teary-eyed lol :csad:

Liam Neeson makes an appearance as Ra's Al Ghul in TDKR who is not dead.

Harvey Dent is alive and he will make a cameo as Two Face again.

Selina Kyle is a stripper.

Bruce Wayne with a cane is the last scene of the movie.

There was one I remember about Gordon's character having a love interest and cheating on his wife. (similar to what happens in year one, I believe) I was actually pretty interested in seeing something like that play out. What we got with his wife and kids just leaving was a pretty big let down as far as his future goes. :/
