Joss Whedon and I are currently hooked on this show. His satellite provider (from north korea) told us this is one of the best new shows on air.

I'm currently on season 1 and, I already hear there are rumors of the network trying to cancel the show. I've already send more than a dozen letters telling them to back the hell up. We will riot if they cancel this show.

What did you guys think of the episode last night? Great stuff.

I loved the good Christian values of this show's goodies.

The baddies - Texas is so full of evil people! I mean, incredibly evil!!!

This show was staple viewing in my household. Cheesy af though.

I think Jared is likeable and this is in his wheelhouse. Hes spent 15 years playing a character that hunts down villains. But this show is probably DOA. Chuck Norris and this character are iconic. A reboot is a tough sale. I hope I'm wrong tho. Jared seems like a good guy, and he has dealt with depression in the past. I dont want his first show after Supernatural to be DOA.

I doubt Jared will be able to sing the theme as well as Chuck:

Plus the show was actually shot in Dallas, Texas. Not Vancouver disguised as Dallas.

In a very weird way, I could see his buddy Jensen playing Norris's son in a reboot but not Jared. You re right a reboot is a tough sale.

I also thought this seemed more up Jensen's alley.

I have always liked Padalecki even though I was never the biggest fan of Supernatural, but he ain't no Walker Texas Ranger IMO. Chuck Norris is just way too iconic in that role for something like this work, but if it does and if it's good than I wish him all the best. I mean maybe it could be the next Justified.

Maybe, but he’s an icon.

Well, he’s certainly an iconic meme. :cwink: But WTR, itself, was rather generic and mediocre. Though, to be fair, many network action series of the 80s and 90s followed a similar template. So to the extent that those shows are now being remade/rebooted with new actors (MacGyver, Hawaii-50, Magnum PI, etc.), I don’t think WTR rates any special, “protected” status.

Now that every cop show has a MMA fighting ex Army Ranger Navy SEAL as part of the team beyond the cowboy hat I don't know if Ranger Walker has any special status. Sometimes you get lucky like a new McGarrett going into his 10 year or Riggs working before the stars personalities spiked Lethal Weapon

I can't find the thread on the new show, maybe because it's so bland that the thread has just disintegrated. The old Chuck Norris show was cheesy but fun and was the catalyst to the Chuck Norris pop culture meme phenomenon. This version is a dull family soap opera with a lead who looks half asleep and practically no action, Micki is the only semi interesting character, I'm amazed it's gotten the ratings to get a 2nd season.

I’m bingeing this on HBO MAX before the new season and the prequel premieres and I have to admit I really like this show I mean it’s nothing like the classic series but in its own right it’s not bad. I have about 4 episodes left of season one and I should be done with season two before the end of the week.

The show has action even though it’s not in every episode but I’d argue that there is it’s just mild and the family drama works for me. So yeah I think the new series is pretty good/average show nothing more or less and for me it’s just something to watch.

Well, I'm glad I'm not the only one who actually enjoys this show and I've been with it since Season 1. I honestly think its a bit underrated, but I can understand how some wouldn't be interested in a Walker Texas Ranger reboot.

That being said I think its better than it has any right to be, especially considering its a CW show and I think all the actors involved do a pretty solid job in their roles and I've always really liked the family drama as well.

Yeah I have to admit I was a naysayer but I figured their doing the prequel and like I said just something to watch so I’d figure why not give it a chance and I was pleasantly surprised.

Got to the episode when Micki leaves and….. it was pretty emotional. Good acting in that final scene.

So the guy who played Trivette in the original had to get his role on Matlock reduced significantly because of this one. He was eventually replaced on Matlock.....by Daniel Roebuck. His character on Matlock though just disappeared, without any mention of where he went (that was common on Matlock).
